well if you want to interpret Red, it can also mean prostitution! Red in aura can mean anger...we won't really know the intention.
But there is symbolism in the video...church, road, beach, bar...
has a meaning, message in the song and video.
the one thing I've gathered of Jamiroquai after all these years |
Yeah I considered the Red Light District sort of thing...then I switched it up to temptation. lol
But, yeah, there's definitely symbolism here. |

That's really bad.
I liked very much the sound that the horns gave to the songs during the last years. |

If this is true (and there's no reason to believe it's not), it sucks.
We missed horns for a dozen years (roughly from AFO tour until the wicked Midnight Sun tour), and they're doing it again? I really can't imagine they decide to skip horns...
Maybe it's just for the two "pre-gigs" (Paris & London) and there'll be horns for the "real" summer tour? (wishful thinking) |

Probably new material doesn't require horns - I'd also swap backup vocalists to brass section any day, that's a no brainer |

I thought so too.
Remember the Jazz Café gig? They had horns and I don't remember those guys playing again. Where they around during the Dynamite/High Times Singles concerts? |

I’d never heard of Automaton before (automatically run machine; unfeeling). But the album seems to be making a Social statement, rather than a Political one. I get the feeling this album is going to be much more intense than the last one.
The title track, I love the Rap, the chorus and continuous rhythms. I’m not sure what the lyrics & video mean. The lyrics seem frustrated with the world today and soul searching “took off into inner space”. The reference to “I put my faith in a digital world” (internet?) “Inside I’m Null & Void (Automaton)”. Not being satisfied with the world.
I can’t help but see Automaton as Society being reduced to robot-like actions, through its technological revolutions. The Era of the machine (Industrial) to the Digital (PostIndustrial) Era, defining computers.
Today our modern digital world increases speedy communication (i.e. phones, internet) but reduces personal relationships. People don’t talk on the phone, they’d rather text; People don’t talk to their neighbors, they’d rather social media strangers! A social element is lost, or at least in quality. You can't be vulnerable.
Some social theorists have written of this years ago: This idea that technology helps advance society, but has trouble keeping up with it (Thomas Kuhn -Scientific Revolutions), and that technology reduces the sense of Self (Max Weber - Bureaucratic Alienation). But society is always changing.
Perhaps Automaton is in reference to Music Recordings; Digital offers less quality than Analog ones; (digital 0’s and 1’s in its clipped bits). Analog shows more quality and imperfections, truth, while Digital hides things.

Common, they are doing everything actually pretty well this time!
Also, Jay said that these dates were only a warm-up to the proper tour in November, so i'm not gonna be down with the whole horns thing till there. |

Anyone else spotted the supporting keyboard player beside Matt Johnson? Maybe they're back to the AFO type of line-up with Simon Carter back then, based on the similarity in sounds between AFO and Automaton it would make sense... |

I'm sorry
But I don't think that's going to be any different from now, it already started with cloud9 video, that looks more as a promotional video than a music video itself, laughable despite the good production value... And now this...
But yeah I still wish i'm dead wrong....... _________________ At the speed of cheeba, you and I go deeper... |
