Hello Jamirotalkers,
I've been thinking a lot of which are the best Jamiroquai songs, and I made a list of them (forget the order, they're just the way they come to my mind) after listening all the songs this last 4 days:
."Butterfly"
I think this is the kind of song that you never get tired of, at least that is what happens to me every time I listen to it. The voice of J really does great and the thing I realized is that (although the album version is brilliant, the sound fidelity is beautiful... like the whole album) the live version is great too, Matt the keyboardist did a really good job, and the bass sounds different. That's what I like about a good song, it sounds good in the studio and played live too.
."Space Cowboy"
I really don't know which version is the best one (the album version or the radio edit?) but in this song you can hear what Jamiroquai is all about. I think this is the perfect smooth song and every instrument sounds simply amazing. The live versions (specially during 1994) are in some cases even better that the studio one.
."Canned Heat"
Well... I believe everyone agrees: this is the best dance song ever. I know, some people say that without the 70's this song wouldn't have existed... true, but no other band did a good disco song as this one. It reminds me to 'Here's to You' by Skyy ('Late Night Tales') hehe....
."Bullet"
This is the best instrumental song this band has made in my opinion. You have everything in here: horns, DJ, good intro, good outro. And is just beautiful. One of the rarities they played live (I already said, during the Synkronized tour, at the beginning of 'Virtual Insanity') and it sounds awesome too.
."Corner Of The Earth"
The instrumentation in here is just beautiful. I think nobody understood how much they worked with this album (ok let's face it... it could have been better) by using so much programming and mixing it with bossa nova, I think that is very interesting nobody did before and it didn't deserve bad reviews, cause -with all the risks- they did a good job. This song proves they were not trying to do just 'another album' (well... what I feel when I listen to it).
."Blow Your Mind"
If I have to choose only one song from EOPE is very difficult! But I think in this 8 minutes version we could discover Jamiroquai and this is basically the direction they took (AFO is more closer to this song than 'WYGL' or 'TYTD'!).
I could keep writting and writting about each song, I love them as much as this ones, but this tracks are the ones that resume pretty much how I like Jamiroquai to sound like.
Bye,
D! (diego) |
