I know this is a Long Shot...But...US tour???
Just wondering if there are any rumors of a US tour with the release of the upcoming Album??? I hope so because this country(the US) needs a huge dose of Funk to loosen it up! I really envy my European brethen and wish I could be living there rather than here! But that's a whole political story for another day...lol _________________ I used to worry about the future

Well, being myself in Europe I find no sense in taking part in that poll personally.
I don't listen to US-radio but I want that everyone who likes Jamiroquai have his share and opportunity to listen....Jamiroquai is not exclusive for some countries. It's for all fans....
And lets face it...the more popular Jamiroquai gets the more informations are known about the music, the group etc....and that's why we are all here...to SHARE informations and emotions. _________________

Hello,
Well, KMack, I hate to say it, but that I don't think that is a very realistic situation . I mean, if Sony threw a boatload of promotional money at Clear Channel and the other corporated radio station owners to push the new Jamiroquai album, then yes, it would happen. But I don't think Sony or Jamiroquai really want to repeat their mainstream 1997 success in the States, I mean JK voiced this opinion several times in the past, "We never wanted to be considered the 'next big thing'." But in THIS World, Clear Channel is worst thing for American radio, it's completely dead, they play the same crappy music in heavy rotation and never offer or let the newer great new music to break through on the airwaves. That's what is or will surely kill our next generation's music appreciation, shoving redundant and boring at a high repeat rate FORCING our ears to enjoy when the back of our mind is thinking, "This really sucks, play something else!!!" A modest success in the states with a solid platinum CD sales status and a "big American cities" tour is much better THAN booking Jamiroquai on MTV TRL with JK standing with a awkward look on his face as some nameless MTV VJ asks vacant questions to him like, "So...Jamiroquai, where did you come up with that name?" OR "JK, what a like really like weird name, is it short for something?" OR the Classic "So, Mr. Jamiroquai, where have you been for the last 8 years?" Sorry for ragging on there, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

Jamirofan's Pessimism is probably right, but I think there could still be a club tour over here even if radio airplay isn't much. I was thinking of all the radio stations with different formats in the Minneapolis area (all pretty much clear channel, infinity, or disney/abc owned), I thought of 4 different stations Jamiroqauis songs could be played on, but it's a ll a stretch to fit the format of each one, so it'll be tough.
1) If it does good enough, it could make the top 40 pop/hip hop/whatever is in the top 40 radio station (clear channel owned kdwb http://www.kdwb.com )
2) The 80s-today pop/light rock/soul/top 40 radio station (more geared for people a little older and for those who don't like rap and dance music, independently owned but a major player in Minneapolis radio http://www.ks95.com ). To make this station, once again it would have to be a top 40 song on the pop charts.
3) There are two alternative stations in town, which means you might think it's all alternative rock or accoustic rock, but they do play some misc. songs that don't really fit any other formats of any other stations if the song is popular enough. I've heard Marley played on these stations as an example. Don't think it's totally out of the realm of possibility.
One station is ABC/Disney owned, the other is Clear Channel owned. http://www.drive105.com
http://www.cities97.com
4) There is 2 stations that play light jazz/soul/funk in Minneapolis. But these stations are much more meant for the older crowd, and Im not sure if Jamiroquai would like their music put on this station for that reason. Most younger listeners won't even know their songs are on the air lol.
So for each station the format doesn't exactly fit Jamiroquai's brand of music, but there's still a chance that it will get some radio exposure. Im sure Jamiroqaui faced this same dilemma when virtual insanity was released, but it did so well that many radio stations were playing it in regular rotation. So only time will tell, but let's hope Sony does their part and gives them some promotional backing in the U.S. Thanks _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

Just another thought
Yes, I agree that I don't want Jamiroquai over exposed here in the US but I feel if Sony doesn't back them here in the US then a US tour of any size would be hard to mount. Me, personally, I would love to see them on tour in club size venues but then I run the risk of not having a tour date near where I live. But if it does happen that way I hope Boston is on the list of cities! _________________ I used to worry about the future

As much as we hate Clear Channel (or Infinity or Disney), they would most likely be the promoters of a Jamiroquai tour, so it's a double edged sword. Clear channel represents so many bands for concert promotion it;s crazy. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

I think a tour is possible. Maybe only a couple of venues (NY, DC, LA) but it's possible. Lots of big names are doing disco now, and Jamiroquai is just what the doctor ordered. I think it really depends on how good the album is. I hope they play Saturday Night Live again, that'd boost them like woah. |

Good point Eddie, and I hope you're right... I gave the same proposal to Brent (Jamirofan), but I'll give it you too: Gimme a place to stay and I'll buy your ticket to the show if they play in NY _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |
