regarding the last post:
-songs by Kay/Smith: Too Young to Die, Stillness in Time, Virtual Insanity, Alright, Planet Home, High Times (w/ Zender/McKenzie), Butterfly, Little L, Love Foolosophy, Picture of My Life (w/ Harris/Smith)....Jay has obviously written some signature tracks by himself, but I wouldn't call it a majority...
-for quite a few tracks I think Jay did just sing a line for Stu/Nick to play. I know that's how Manifest Destiny was written. In general, I think that's what it means when Jay "writes" a song--he sings a line for strings (to Simon Hale) or guitar (to Simon Katz / Rob Harris), and then they embellish it. Needless to say, it takes a crack team of musicians to artfully interpret those scattings!
