FO hidden track
Hi all! I don't post here much or come here much at all so I'm sorry if I'm asking something here that's been asked before... (I tried doing a search but couldn't find my answer)

I bought Funk Odyssey back in late 2001- early 2002 in the US. There is a hidden track at the end where JKay sings "It feels so good to be real" (I don't know the exact lyrics), and it's a very short track that fades out after a minute. I tried doing a search for this song to see if there was a full version for it, a long time ago, and I found a song called "So Good To Feel Real (Do It Like We Used To Do)." The song clamied to be the hidden track on FO so I listened to it and it sounded nothing like the last track on my album. It was a very disco-y 8 minute long song from them (which I ended up loving anyway).

But I was wondering if maybe the one I found was an extra track on European versions of the album instead, or, if not, where does it come from?

it's all here, from funkin.com:

What's the 'hidden track' at the end of A Funk Odyssey?

After the track Picture Of My Life, there is a short track which sounds like the band just having fun in the studio. This track is entitled "So Good To Feel Real" and was recorded in a single take just before the album was completed. The song was never completed so what you hear on the album is unfortunately all that exists.

mind you, it sounds excellent.

wasn't this topic bought up a while ago???

Like I said before, I don't come here often and I've only posted a few times so I missed it if it was ever brought up. Also, I tried to search for it but found nothing, that's why I asked.

Ok so that answers that, but what about that other song I found, "So Good To Feel Real (Do It Like We Used To Do)?" I found that one when searching for this one. The one I found claimed to be a hidden track on FO but it isn't (at least not on mine). It's about 8 minutes long and is very disco inspired. So where does it come from?

buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Yep, one of the weirdest Jamiroquai album bonus tracks ever, I still get a grumbly face when it fades out halfway through. And I thought I would also note that "So Good To Feel So Real" is listed on the UK Test Pressing of AFO individually as a separate track, but not any shorter or longer, just short and sweet. Rolling Eyes I just we have the benefit of future Jamiroquai bonus tracks that AREN'T spliced up and are allowed to go "Function" song length Rolling Eyes ! Thanks for listening and Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Wow! I can't believe anyone remebered me! I've been here every once in a while just lurking, but haven't had anything to say. I probably will have more to say once this phantom album comes out Rolling Eyes

And Stockholm's treating me just fine! I'm applying for my permanent residency now - just one more step before applying for citizenship. Life is good, everything's moving along nicely Smile Thanks for asking!

Thanks for the reply JamiroFan2000! I also get dissapointed every time that track starts and then fades away. It's a shame because it could have been great.

But I'm still wondering about that other song - "Do It Like We Used To Do." Is that a b-side from something? Does anyone know where it comes from?

buffaloman_R Hello again, buffaloman_R

Smile "Do It Like We Used Too" was the bonus track on Jamiroquai's 4th album "Synkronized" in 1999 Smile. Wink Hope that answers your question Wink! Thanks for listening and Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Really? In the US release? As far as I knew, Do It Like We Used To is an AFO bonus track in Japan and Australia. I can't find from funkin.com any info either that this song could somehow be related to Synkronized.

buffaloman_R Hello yet again, buffaloman_R

Razz Whoops, another goof, please forgive me Razz . You are correct Mers, "Do It Like We Used Too" was the bonus track on AFO for the Japanese & European release, wasn't on the American. Wink Thanks again for correcting me Mers Wink! Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Hello,

'Do It Like We Used To Do' was actually among the regular tracks on the test pressing of AFO, but in the last minute it was replaced with 'Love Foolosophy'.

And it wasn't included as bonus track on all European releases.

Hope they will play some of those songs live in the future. then maybe we can finally hear the full version of 'So Good To Feel Real'. they have played "hidden" tracks live before. I just watched the Chigaco Riviera concert from 1997 tonight, and they did 'Funktion' as encore. Fantastic concert Very Happy

I've never actually heard this song (Do It Like We Used To) in full Embarassed

I agree re: the length of bonus/hidden tracks. Function is a brilliant piece of 8 minutes, So Good To Feel So Real really deserved to be a full length song Sad

Thank you! That's what I was curious about! Becasue when I did the search for Feels Good To Be Real, I got "Do It Like We Used to Do." And it was said that it was an extra track on AFO, but it wasn't on mine. So I assumed it was on the European version, but then somepne told me that it wasn't (they were obviously wrong though.)

Thank you very much for your replies!
