Hey there, Toby used a Rhodes suitcase piano, like this one (I recorded the Rhodes part from that track):

I love the sound of the Rhodes more than any other musical instrument in the world - I'm very lucky that mine is such a great-sounding one.
I remember when I first heard this, I was probably about 13/14 and I loved the sound so much I asked my Mum if she knew what it was. It was about the same time I was discovering Headhunters, so it all came together in the end.. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/user/tomogradymusic?feature=mhum |

Thanks! I've been playing for many years - I started when I was 4 and have been classically trained ever since. It was when I first heard Herbie and Jamiroquai and other bands using the Rhodes that I knew what I had to do...
I've just checked out taki76's stuff - some of it is great, I love the bass riff in 'Seed Of The Serpent' - in fact, the only thing missing is a nice slab of funky Rhodes or some nasty Clavinet _________________ http://www.youtube.com/user/tomogradymusic?feature=mhum |

Wow, very cool. Your Chameleon cover is also very nice. I really enjoyed listening to taki76's music. He sounds great.
Do you make original compositions? I would like to hear something you made. |

It sounds good, I'm sure people on the fender rhodes forum have mentioned the scarbee before too. The emulator in Logic pro is pretty good. I can still tell the difference between those and my own Rhodes, but I'm sure they are a very handy tool for songwriting and a great substitute for anybody who doesn't have a Rhodes.

I have been writing and I'm still trying to finish some songs. Here's hoping that I can get everything together in 2011!
I have one song that I wrote that's already been recorded (by a band that's now defunct) - it's called Brazilian Wax and you can get it here:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-blue-barn-sessions/id332067561
(and you can listen to the whole track here but my myspace page is messed up):

The question is, did I use a real Rhodes on that track?! _________________ http://www.youtube.com/user/tomogradymusic?feature=mhum |

Brazilian Wax is pretty good. I'll be looking forward to your new songs when you finish them. Uhh, not too sure about the rhodes. Sounds close enough if it isn't. |
