I just hope the othe 3 minutes and something of the song are better than this... what has J done with his voice?????... I'd rather have Black Devil Car as a single but it's still early to tell. _________________ We're going to a funktion yeah yeah yeah |

Hello Jamirotalkers,
What can I say? After all this time, I feel like it would be same if they did a heavy metal song. Those are only 14 seconds, and to be honest, I liked the thing. There are a lot of things you must understand, first they have to evolve if they want good critics to keep growing as a band. Second, in the last album, 'Little L' -the first single- wasn't the main attraction. It was 'Love Foolosophy', in the concerts you can see that (the last song, making encores of it). It could be made as a hook to people that didn't like Jamiroquai at the beginning. Many said it sounds like 'Deeper Underground'... turns out that this was the most succesful song of JMQ in the US, there's have to be something there. And you have to admit, the guitar and the drums sounds really funky.
And I'm pretty sure there are old school songs in the rest of the album, to keep the first album fans happy.
That's what I think, so my recommendation is, wait to listen the whole song, and the most important, wait to hear it LOTS of times, cause that is when I know how good a song is.
I want to hear 'FJLIS' on the radio! Then I'll like to know what everyone thinks of it!
'I wanna see the city lights'

well about the deeper underground thing...i'm agree it was a big hit and all that but you must see that the intro riff was a remake of use the force chorus, they used the SAME formula for lot of songs after this, on cannabliss, funk odyssey new version of use the force, even black devil car, so i think it's enough....
p.s where the hell is the song!? _________________

nah i still hate the song... you said: no, the other three minutes can be funky, ok, so, in all the jamiroquai samples they take the non-funky parts.... as most of you said with Black Devil Car, that i think is a s**t too... c'mon, all the track is the same as these 15 seconds... that's what i think.... when i was downloading the samples from the band Real, i got too excited when i heard the sample of "Give me a reason" and even when Real is a new band... Jay Kay has the experience, all the good producers, great studios! ALL! they hav a big name "JAMIROQUAI" but they are not doing the things well... i don't know... likes are likes... and i don't like it... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

I can't believe you guys are so critic about it...
I mean, we know that not all songs in the album will be the same. Then, why do we *** off about JK's voice in the sample? Couldn't it be that those 14 secs where the part of the song where JK's voice is sampled? It's obvious that not all the album will be like this...
On top, we also know that Jamiroquai's albums are all of them very varied, in one album we get a great variety of sounds... logic tells me this will be the same.
It may not have the best song ever for JK, but thigs like Twenty Zero One are also not the best one and are still great
Have faith For me, I have to listen to more, but at the moment it's a 6.5/10
P.D: Yeah, I'm a new user... and I am glad to say that I'm spanish From Barcelona... here everybody has for almost sure that we'll see JK live, let's see if it confirms. And good luck for JMQers around the world _________________ Welcome to the Funk nation! |

You can't judge a song by listening only to 14 seconds? are you sure? If I listen to 14 seconds of Virtual Insanity chorus I know it's great...same goes to stillness in time, cosmic girl, space cowboy, etc...instead, I listened to these 14 seconds of Feels Like Whatever the hell and sounded like rubbish..just my opinion tho' |

Diego, great points....who knows what other songs that the band has lined up as singles? They may blow this one out of the water....I really want to hear a full version of the track before I start judging and I suggest you all do the same.
At first, I thought I was hearing a Justin Timberlake outtake. But the more I listen to the sample, the more I like it. This is EXACTLY the sound that can propel Jamiroquai back to prominence Stateside. Since Brightside was saying "Moog riff" and "disco," I was thinking, "Good lord, another disco-electro track Jay?" Needless to say, I was surprised.
Finally....I don't want to sound like a d!ck or anything, but I think it's been obvious since Synkronized that Jam hasn't heeded the call of returning to the past in order to keep going forward and evolve their sound. I know there are tons of fans here that would go nuts if they went back to the acid jazz style. My opinion: Save your breath. I've only been a fan since 2001, but to me, it just seems to me like wishing for something that you know deep down has a snowball's chance in Hell of happening. I too enjoy the old sound of Jamiroquai, but I know that they may never return to it, so I'll see what they can do for the present and for the next few years.
Remember the past, but keep your eyes on the future. If you have anything to say to me about this, talk to me. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. It really does. Otherwise, I have to be honest, I can see a situation where...there is a possibility that you become lost in the annals of acid jazz history." -- Jason Kay |

It was inevitable that Jamiroquai were going to release something a bit 'different' after all this time. I can't judge the new single yet, having heard only 14 seconds of it. I'm keen to hear the whole thing and so I'll cast my opinion once I have.

at last i have it! thanks to mtey
the first thing i said is" what the hell is this!" but not because i didn't like it, only because it was so extrange, that jay's nearly falsete and the first "yaaaahh" i laugh the fisrt time i heard it
i don't dislike the song, and i'm sur ei will like it more with a good soundquality and listening to the complete song, 'cos the guitar line is good and the bassline its good for me (i loved the interlude of afo sampler)
i listened to the sample on a bucle again and again 'till my winamp did an error....lol
well i can say that about the only to things i know from the next album i only dislike the name of the album.... _________________

I'm not big on the whole rock sounding stuff that Jamiroquai has done over recent years, except maybe SDP, but I really think FJLIS is more funky than rock.
I really don't think the whole album is going to sound like this, while following the info about the different musicians that worked with them doing string arangements and horns. FJLIS is probably one of the handful of 'ready for public consumption' singles they need to promote the album. |

Still doesn't do it for me, and I've listened a lot to it now. Still think it's the worst I've heard of Jamiroquai.
OK, there may be better parts of the song, yes, but chances are it would still be the same style - rocky.
OK, there may be better tracks on the album... BUT, we've heard this track, we've heard BDC, plus all that Cannabliss and Funky Oddysey b0llox (not saying they're going to be on the album, just pointing out) and they're all similar styles hence, I think the album will be of the same style too, or at least the majority of it will be. Which p!sses me off.
And all this stateside stuff (Ofcourse I don't mean any disrespect Supersonic1 ), what is JK's fukin obsession with it? I don't know why he tries and tries and tries to crack the States, I think he's got fcuk all chance of making it big in there anyway. Oh well, perhaps at the expense of his best fans everywhere else, maybe?!
It's fair enough that Jamiroquai have to evolve, and evolve they will. To me, they will evolve into "just another band" that I will probably hear sometimes on the radio while driving (it's the only time I have the radio on - for the traffic stuff, otherwise it's sh!te) and turn the volume down. At the end of the day, bands cater for particular tastes, and I think at the rate that Jamiroquai are going, I will not be one of those people.
What fcuks me off as well is that after giving so much of me time to Jamiroquai, we, as fans, get absolutely nothing, we are p!ssed about at every possible corner by Sony and Jason, we got a sh!te official site and sh!te communication between the band & us fans. You should see the way other bands treat their fans! (well - with a lot of respect of course) The amount of stuff I bought and did for jamiroquai, they should collectively be sucking me off (metaphorically ofcourse)
How's that for controversial, eh? _________________ By Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II - Now legally Licenced to navigate the Public Highways again.

100% agree with you mate, Jay Kay alone is managing to kill jamiroquai, Jay gives a shit about fans, he's just money driven and if he has to sound like some bad lenny kravitz-britney spears overproduced crossover to earn two extra millions he'll do...it's only that I don't want to be around when that happens
We European fans have followed the band during all these years even with mediocre albums like AFO, but we are getting sold by jay's obsession on hitting the USA, anytime he win 5 new fans with Dynamite, he'll lose 10 old fans, and that's biting the hand that feeds you, after all if he can mess around with Ferraris, coke and blondes it's because of us.
The return of the old school jamiroquai? of the brass? of the funk? don't think so, try another dimension though |
