i don't think his voice has become this bad within two years. i guess, it's more like 'feel so good' where they had fx on his voice as well. maybe jay just likes to play with his voice? (okay, honestly, after listening to the sound-sample and feel so good right after it, i didn't recognize the fx on FSG that much anymore )
i still like the sample and i'm still confident that the new album will be as entertaining as the rest! and hey, they will still play the old tunes as well while on tour! (jamiroquai don't let me down with this now or i'll get killed by a furious fan-crowd after the first concert...) _________________ Dear Auntie Em. Hate you, hate Kansas, took the dog. Dorothy. x |

hey guys... whether you love it or hate it, remember, this is only one song in the whole album. I thought the song (or only the 12 second snippet of it) is decent. Not bad, not great. I do think it sounds kinda like some of the stuff the Scissor Sistors put out on "Comfortably Numb". No joke. It does have a little of that sound.
Seriously, just remember, like the name of an album (you know who you are when I say that), that don't judge Dynamite as a whole until you've heard everything. Whether you like FJLIS or not. Peace! _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

By the way :
Does anybody understand the lyrics of the sample ?
I´ve listened to it for the 500th time now and I still can´t make it out with 100 % security...
So baby for the first time
I need a little sugar spice
I wanna see the city lights
I wanna find another
???????? Häh ?
And what is meant by " sugar spice " ?
Cocain ? Or would that be over - interpretated ?
The more I listen to it the better I like it. Strange.

I've finally had a chance to listen to the clip, and since there have only been 14 pages of posts so far, I might as well weigh in
To borrow a dubious American phrase, I understand the 'shock and awe' that some of you are experiencing after hearing the studio-massaged vocals of the chorus. This is definitely geared toward US airwaves. But in my opinion, that alone does not warrant panic.
The rest of the band sounds very similar to what we heard at Montreux '03 (just listen to the end of Just Another Story). And yes, even Whatever It Is... from EOPE. This is not a major departure or an 'end of Jamiroquai' moment. Who knows, there might even be some brass later in the song. But even if there isn't, we've got FUNKED OUT LIVE INSTRUMENTS. We all know Matt and Rob have been thoroughly involved in writing/recording so this isn't some straight American popstar impression. Give this album a chance, we haven't even heard it yet! People have been speculating about his voice being shot for a while now, and I have to say I don't think it's true. His voice is definitely different from 93, it's not as easy and clear, but he still has a hell of a range.
I see what you're saying about it being a song written to get on the charts... I mean, we may not like it, but who knows, the mainstream may eat it up, because the mainstream isn't very creative, and doesn't usually go for the unique sound. I wish they hadn't compromised their individuality on this one, but if it gets Jamiroquai any name recognition again, I'd be happy with that. |

As everybody here Icycled the sample about 20 times
I should say that whithout that flangering effect on the voice and a funky guitar chord instead of the distorted guitar we should have a reel old style ass kicking jamirotune. for me it seems the style of 2001 in a good mood.
let's see what happens..."comon sunshine we need you" (cit. jay on main live bootleg )
anyway diego is right...don't forget that live versions we are used to listen are much more powerful...anyway...i stay in the middle of the 2 groups _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

one thing we haven't talked yet about this song is the possibility of being a demo. remember that the demos are very different in most cases than the final tracks. for example there's the case of space cowboy, when you gonna learn... i don't know, perhaps i'm extremely wrong... but it could be posible.... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

Hello,
This whole mystery that JK has lost full capacity is kind of true, but not completely true . I mean, there have been several past Jamiroquai songs that utilized vocal effects to give JK's singing a grainer, dirter and more characterlized sound. The most famous is probably "Scam", where JK was on a scratchy mic throwing around his diatribe about the squandered youth of the world, then there was "Morning Glory" where his voice wandered with a silver shine, then "Feels So Good" with the tiny-sized wiper vocal effect. JK did however almost lose his singing to a cocaine addiction during the TWOM years, but all singers voices usually get weathered down over the years. Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,

Everyones voices change as they get older, but as I may have said before I think that its good - gives some variation. Still, his voice has been attacked by effects so we cant really tell about that. _________________ Fascist.

Yeah and for me, I think it's more the will to put an effect on this song (to give an electro vibe) than a loss of vocal capacity !
Anyway, i'm a little bit late, I've just listenned to the sample (got some computer problems ) and I LOVE IT ! _________________
