Hi Little H,
I have to admit that my first Jami album was TROTSC and I liked the melodic content of the album. I then bought EOPE after and found it more of a Jam and sounding more demo like. Obviously, the extra cash has allowed for better production on the 2nd and subsequent albums.
like you say, EOPE has it's moments and to many, I am sure it was a landmark release. My Jami taste veers more to the pop side than the jazz, so songs like Mr Moon, Stillness In Time and Space Cowboy floated my boat.
I do still like the Jam style of Just Another Story as well though.
Perhaps EOPE was just too mellow for me? |

The use of the 'f' word in JAS is artistically perfect. I have a strong and rigid dislike for foul language. But in the context it is used and the story of JAS allows for it to deliver the punch it was intended to.
Mr. Moon is not pop, it's nicer than pop, it's Jamiroquai.
SIT reminds me of a hit from the late sixties called "Do You Know the Way To San Jose ?". I think it show cases "Sir" JK's vocal agility and I love singing the back up. I have an MP3 of SIT, and the live recording has very occaisional vocal backing - so I fill in.
So SC really floated your boat ??? It took me a long time to truly appreciate SC. But now everything is (either) green or brown !!!
Remaining true to the thread title, what I am working up to here is that Kids and Scam almost sink my boat. |

and he said a lot of f**** in the Woodstock concert! all his excitement with that word got into the top

The 'f' word used - correctly - (!!!) is bound to have an exciting effect on "Sir" JK and us. The 'f' word in JAS underlines the seriousness of the situation and seriousness of the message of the song.
It's the journey of JAS and the musical meaderings in it that make me think how Hollywood film creators could add a Lalo Schiffrin quality level to their production if they had Jamiroquai doing the sound tracks and themes. DU for Godzillz, wasn't enough - and Jamiroquai aren't even on the official DVD of Godzilla.
In some of the live MP3 recordings I have heard from Montreux and Pori, he speaks the words introducing a instrumental special in the middle of song from Rob or Nick saying "No drop that sh!t". I enjoyed that too.

I love all the didgeridoo tracks, they're GREAT! I love Didgin' Out, (though my favourite one is Journey To Arnhemland, it really takes you to that place!) . It doesn't matter if it's a short track, you don't need to have 10 minutes of a song to consider it good, for example I don't like revolution 1993 and it's a 10 minutes song. Of course it would be great if it was a longer song, but that doesn't matter, I like it very much anyway.

Hello there,
A lot of people here said that they don't like 'Stop Don't Panic', but I would really like to know the meaning of the lyrics. What is he refering to when he says "Is just a thing I do, nothing to hang on to"?
I can think a few things, but any of you heard something different in the lyrics of this song?? Thanks.

In the past I've posted that the only song in the whole Jamiroquai catalog that I consistently skipped was King for a Day, because of the really bitter things sung about Stu.
However, after a recent break up of my own, I finally understood the emotion of this song. That kind of angst and bitterness is the product of losing someone you care deeply about, for no apparent reason other than caprice or selfishness. Jay's not saying "Stu you suck," it's more like "we had something so wonderful- why would you want to destroy it?" Of course maybe things weren't so rosy, but this song really captures that raw emotion that precedes introspection. That's what I love about Synkronized (as opposed to AFO)- there's passion in it.
This is a great song. |

Just getting off topic here for a tick... does anyone know the story behind Deeper? When Jay wrote it for the movie it had a few lyrics related directly to Godzilla. When he presented it to the "powers that be" they didnt want any reference to the movie or godzillas name. So jay took it out of the office, wrote the now famous lyrics in 20 minutes and presented it again. I think the original title was something like "gozilla is a killer". Interesting stuff huh.
ANYWAY, jami songs i dont usually listen too. Hmm, hard to say. At one point or another i listen to all of the stuff... if im ready to play sport of go out its definately stuff like Travelling, or Love Fool... everyday music cant go past Space Cowboy or Alright... when im with my muso mates we always end up repeating Black Capricorn and Soul Ed... so yeah, all depends really! Lately, its been the live stuff ive been able to get my hands on that ive been listening to the most. |

Hey guys... lets see... from EOPE all the tracks are good some times I skip Music of the mind and Digin out... I can´t belive some people don like whatever it is I just can´t stop... that tune is so funky man...
TROTSC: all the tracks in it are great too, but sometimes i justo skip journey to armherland and morning glory
TWM: I usually skip drifting alone and the digeridoo tracks...
SYNKRONIZED: I always skip destitute illusions
AFO: STOP DONT PANIC...

got to be kiding?  no? music of the mind and didgin' out aren't the best in EOPE , and drifting along , isn't the best in TWM.
Well i can put the journey to arnhemland...as one of the best's that is sure
