Well, it did come out awfully early, but all the production elements are in place and everything is mixed right, so I kinda of think this is the final version. As far as the song itself, it has the same... "elements" as most other jamiroquai songs. Think about it. It has a repeated bass groove with a pretty simple melody and has alot of gritty edgy synth sounds. Granted, its not exactly like there other songs, but essentially the main points are similar, all that has changed is the production approach. The producer "filled" in all the high end and low end frequencies to give it the sound full and pleasing to the general listener (not acid jazz fans or other die-hards). So, I feel its the same sorta stuff, just put together differently. They still sound like JQ, and if you don't believe me then look at what else is out there. |

Hi! I just heard it too, and... wow
Certainly it sounds very much like Deeper Underground, and I like it.
I see it as a rock-funk mix... maybe it doesn't sound like the past singles, but definitely we can find songs very similar to this one on JK's dischography.
I like it and I accept the fact that is not as "groovie" as the other singles, but I'll tell you something...
It sounds like a dancefloor-hit to me, and that's what matters.
Think about it... we are now hearing this song as absolute fans of Jamiroquai. But there are also many people that don't know much about JK's music, people that will surely dance this song at the dancfloor of their favourite club. And if this means that more people will be attracted to Jamiroquai, I think it's a big deal for JK, and at the end, for all of us.
On top of that, I still think that in the rest of the album we'll find much more Bullman's spirit than in this song. I've always have thinked that a single of an album doesn't means that all the album will be the same.
And, if we think about previous JK's albums, we'll see that the number of variations surrounding the funk style is very present (for example, on Traveling without moving... Ddjerama, Alright and Spend a lifetime on the same album? )
And about JK's voice, it may have gone down, but in this song it still seems extremely similar to JK's voice on Deeper Underground... and that song is from 6 years ago.
Anyway, we'll see what comes of it, but I mantain the good expectatives about Dynamite.
Cheers!
P.D: Sorry 'bout my errors in writing... I'm from Barcelona and don't write english as good as all of you. Cheers again _________________ Welcome to the Funk nation! |
