New pics
While a few days ago we asked ourselfs if the hat in the FJLIS-video was the return of the AFO-hat (Arrow http://www.jamirotalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2799), today I found these pics:

They are (temporary) used for the album and FJLIS-single cover at the RecordStore...
But the same hat used in the musicvideo.

I already saw the black version of the AFO hat!
And i prefer this one to the "official" version.....
These pix were made before the complete relook of the hat:
see this pic, with all the coloured little pearls:

Hello Jamirotalkers,

I like all version of the AFO hat. The black one looks better than the white one in my opinion.

I guess Jay couldn't top the AFO hat!! Just like we thought.

Better than this one for sure!

i really prefer this one.... that new version looks weird....
it doesn't have the little pearls and the feathers are more separated.... strange...

Hello there,

Yes you're right. But remember that the first version of the AFO hat we saw was just like the new one, but in white. Check the getty images pics and you'll the see that the first hat doesn't have the little pearls and stuff. Maybe is not the final design.

In fact, it was only the experimentation for the final one.

that hat in those new pics is a new hat, not a early version of any other AFO hat, there were 2 white hats (one with the eagle and one without, the black one (on the fra's pic), wich haves also different metal pieces, and this new onw wich is a new version, full black and less brilliant metal pieces (maybe a black metal)

There were two versions of AFO hats:

1)The early one, used in the Little L video with 7 widely spaced blades

2)The later one, as seen on Live in Verona , with 9 closely speced blades pointing more in the upwards direction. If you watch the Live in Verona documentary, where JK is gettin ready, you can also see a copy of this hat, without any fur. Maybe this is used as a spair?

There is also a hat made of solid silver that was used for photoshoots because it's too heavy for Jk to use live, but I don't know if it's version 1 or 2

My point is that ther different colours and beady/non-beady fronts come from the ability to change the front of the hat. If you watch the Live in Verona Documentary, where JK has the hat in a box after just getting off the plane, you can see that it has no fur on it at all, just a metal front. So there would not be separate black and white hats as such, just white and black fronts that can be changed.

This hat that we see now seems to be a mix of versions 1 and 2 as it has 9 blades (like version 2) but they are widely spaced (like version 1). Do you think he just stuck on 2 extra blades on an old hat, or got a completely new one made?

EDIT: Yeah, lots of useless knowledge there
