The other tracks are good, I liked those versions, but FJLIS was one of the worst JK singing moments... maybe apart from when he completely lost his voice.

Could it be that he's not used to this track yet? He wasn't too bad on the others...

This is what happens when you're pushing a shot voice to a crowd. Let's hope Jay learned his lesson.

I liked it before and after FJLIS.

That song has grown on me but it's very obvious that his voice is very weak in that range and on the studio version his voice has been strengthened up to match the strong instrumentation. But in the live show the music sounded weak and his voice sounded weaker.

I hope he doesn't continue to perform that track live, because I'm thinking it'll only sound good in the studio version, even though Dave Rowe said the live version does it credit when he saw them perform before. I don't understand!

This is altogether very strange, because Jay of course has the power to decide on which pitch-level he is singing, on the album, live etc.. FJLIS is not vocally that hard to sing. Also Jamiroquai songs have always been "hard" to play - in other words the musicians have been talented enough to play any song, in any key.

FJLIS is a very sensitive song because my first listen to it was a rough quality mp3. It sounded like shit -especially on vocals. Now that I have the digital download, the unity is working.

Yeah, the live FJLIS at this concert was the worst I've ever heard. I hope they lower the key and perhaps somehow change it.

I think Revolution93 sounded too "pop".

And bring back the brass! Sad (pessimistic day)

The concert sounded to me if they were playing in a studio, they never had that live-vibe. It sounded very cold, even the songs they played so many times. Although I like the concert, but I hope they will do much better in the future!

matt jonshon's keys on space cowboy are fucking awful, if he gonna play album's solo (and he should) better if he does with the correct notes, not with that horrible noise! if he still plays like that i will throw him something in the next concert....
jay just can't sing feels just like it should (hopefully is the laringitis)
the new canned heat it's ok but i feel it's gonna be better in next concerts and same with revolution, i still prefer the old version but this one is different and it fits with the new song, it needs more compenetration anyway.
now i'm listenign to the rest of the concert......

I all agree! This was the worst Jamiroquai (actually Jay) perfomance I've ever heard. I really think there's something wrong with his voice. Although the other songs don't sounds as bad as FJLIS, still there's some strange sound leaving Jay's mouth...

Jay said...
That all these new tracks are difficult to sing. I don't understand why they produced such work then. And begin a tour with a bad singing is quite sad. Let's hope Jay overwhelm this situation.
I'm wondering how they would play Eletric Mistress. In studio version this music is so powerful.

Hello Jamirotalkers,

I just heard the concert from BBC Radio 1 -Big Weekend- and I can't help finding 'FJLIS' one of the worst lives I've ever heard. His voice sounds simply terrible, I thought I would never gonna say this, but I just hope is only because he had laryngitis or something like it.

About the other tracks, 'Space Cowboy' was beautiful in my opinion. 'Revolution 1993' was ok, although we can't expect something from what we've heard in 1994 cause there's no original member from that time (almost), but I liked it. 'Little L' it sounded like in the AFO era, except minor changes in the middle part. What I liked about 'Canned Heat' is that starts just like the album version. 'Alright' had some small sounds used in the 1997 tours, and not in the last one, which is a good thing. 'Love Foolosophy' was ok, like most of the versions they did until now. And 'Deeper Underground'... mm... I never really liked the live version of this song, sorry.

'This is the return of the Space Cowboy'
D! (dyego)
