Chernobyl
Since I was a kid I saw on tv some documentaries from the accident in the power station of Chernobyl in Ukraine in 1986. I couldn't take conscience of the significance of that tragedy until I saw this site. It has been made by a girl who visited the places that became ghost towns since then. Those pictures made me breathess.

I just read it all...wow. Such a tragedy, it's like a beautiful town just frozen in time. The photos are just unbelieveable.

Thanks for that Abou Moslem Smile

I've not read the whole thing but that is a hauntingly beautiful website Abou Moslem: thank you... another smile

In response to what cheeba lover said about the radiation spreading across Europe... I know this can't be proven but not long after this disaster my dad got caught out in really heavy rain shower with no umbrella or coat: he was soaked through to the skin... Less than a year later he developed cancer... Rolling Eyes

I remember here when the nuclear reactor exploded in Tchernobyl. And I remember we couldnt eat any Mushrooms or veggies anymore (here in Switzerland). The contamination was too high. Abou thank you for the link I will read the whole story........... makes me shiver already.

i read that whole story, that's scary..... Shocked

speaking of spreading of nuclear radiation (dust):

in the 50's, the british did nuclear testing (drop a bomb etc) in south australia's outback (in woomera). its about 800km direct north of my city, adelaide (1 million ppl).

anyways, our main river through our city, the river torrens, has thick silt at the bottom of it, and the government says that ever since the testing, the radiation levels of the silt is beyond what it was before.

and no, we don't have 3 eyes.

I don't think the word 'cool' is generally a word to describe a 'tragedy', something which killed many, many people... Confused

I know what you mean though, just think (hope) you worded it a bit wrong Smile
