Whoah whoah, not under-rating Jay. Just saying that there's credit going where it isn't deserved. _________________ --"Dance For the Freedom..." |

I start off by saying that I love Zender's bassplaying but Jamiroquai got back on track with bass in Dynamite (and Paul seems to be really good) as well as Toby, whose replacement - Matt Johnson - is making very funky lyrics and music...
But like Jamirokaki said, some of you are underrating Jay! Dissin' him as the singer of Jamiroquai! Wake up ppl!
Jay is:
a incredibly talented singer!
a incredibly talented songwriter - the main songwriter of the band in every album
an old skool type of producer
a creative mind, humming a number of melodies to the other bandmembers
And more importantly:
Who did create the name we're so crazy about?
Jay created Jamiroquai brand!
Who designed and came up the buffalo man?
Jay designed the logo we love so dearly
The point is Jamiroquai moved on and enjoys sucess without Zender and proved, what ppl thought impossible, to be sucessful and genious without Toby...

Once Toby left, that's truly when thnigs went downhill...he was truly what brought the Band to life.
Jay's an okay singer for sure, talented songwriter? Well maybe, but he's still got to hum out each part to each musician...old skool producer? Well, I'll trust you there. Sure he's got a creative mind.
However, saying jay created the name of the band and Jay designed the logo...well, nice, but how's that going to effect the music they're playing? He secured their identity, but each original musician brought life into an otherwise solo artist. _________________ --"Dance For the Freedom..." |

No, the history prooves the opposite. Jamiroquai is a band with changing members. Jay stays and the "band" Jamiroquai is still successfull with good music |

but jay kay is only a singer...
he doesn't know to do something more than singing or dancing i think... and drive fast cars and smoke and consume drugs... in the other side, Stu had to learn and study a lot of chords and practice a lot to obtain his skills... i prefer to be a musician than being a singer... and i agree with so much things that Stu Zender says... i'm really a fan of this guy... he's just a great musician, not another musician... as you said... |
Sorry ed but I think you´re wrong... It seems to me many people here are not as concious as they should be about jay´s talent. I mean Jay´s "head"(composing abilities) is just amazing you see it through out every single album, you listen to them and you go "this guy is from another galaxy" and yes that´s the way it is. Stu is a another galaxy bass player , but as composer he´s not up to Jay´s level, we have to face that, I mean it´s not sad.. just clear. Talking about instruments Stu plays more than Jay... lets make it quick and say Jay plays only keys(a bit) and Stu many more. But for example we see Jay is the one who wrote the bassline in When you gonna learn and that talks by it´s own, despite it´s not the best bassline ever in Jamiroquai´s history. And all the live arrangements Jay does.... they are simply great.
That´s the way I see it guys... hope I helped you realise Jay´s reality
See yall!
