has anyone actually heard X&Y? I almost bought it on impulse, but when my bankcard had expired I went home and downloaded it instead... and compared to the previous albums its sooooo boring! Admittedly i havent really sat down and given it a good listen, but all the tracks sounds the same to me. (I'm willing to be proven wrong of course Wink )

its proof that media-driven hype will sell anything!

OMG! Shocked Dynamite has officially snatched the number two spot from Coldplay's X&Y in the Australian chart. Thats right:

1) FooFighters album (forget wot its called)
2) Dynamite
3) X&Y

I can see this album going to number 1, no questions. Very Happy

Foo Fighters and Jamiroquai deserve to be above Coldplay in my opinion...and they are in Australia!

In the latest midweek update Dynamite is still at #2 in the UK! Foo Fighters are down to #4, Dynamite 2500 copies ahead of the #3, now James Blunt

If it stays there every album would have gone top 2 in the UK Wink

Well it looks like that in the UK Jamiroquai are in at number 3 this week in the official album chart, as reported over at Funkin

It may be the lowest album chart entry ever for Jamiroquai, but over the strength of the competition and the mixed reaction to the first single, I still think it's a highly respectable position! James Blunt sneaking in at 2 though is VERY surprising. I personally think his music is rather...blunt, but it's no doubt got something to do with the TV adverts that they've shown a lot of.

Now what matters is it's staying power, and I wouldn't rule out a chance of it creeping back up to 1 or 2 when SDISJ and the touring kicks in!

Don't read too much into that chart position: When "Dyanamite" is goin head to head with Coldplay's "X and Y", the new Foo Foo Fighters 2 cd album, faithless, and the otherg guy I had not heard of, that's some pretty accomplished and popular competition. It makes people choose which albums they wanna buy, because there's a lot of good options in that top 5. It's reasonable to think that Jamiroquai isn't always gonna get picked if Coldplay and Foo Fighters and Faithless are available.

Yea i totally agree with moonshooter on this one. I think going up against Coldplays X&Y was hard to beat, as everyone seems to own a copy or want it. I think once people hear SDISJ the sales will soon come in again, where as James Blunt, i think hes going down down down

Hello there,

OK, is the lowest chart position for a Jamiroquai album, but is not that is on the number 20 or something! Number 3 with Coldplay as the main competition. I think number 3 is pretty good, noticing that many people didn't like the first single and that they come back after 4 years.

Dynamite Cool

According to the article on Funkin, sales were down 20% compared to the first-week sales of AFO...I know Coldplay wasn't going to give up the No.1 position, but I didn't think sales were going to be that off for Dynamite. Fortunately, Seven Days should help out when that is released to the radio stations. I just hope the album itself shows more staying power than "Feels Just Like It Should"--from 8th to 28th on the UK charts in three weeks, OUCH!

I agree with Diego. Its been a long break for Jamiroquai & some people will have forgotten them. I'm sure the album will have staying power as I genuinely think its a good album whereas I think FJLIS has performed comparitively poorly because its not that great a song. I know there are people who do love it but for me its stands out like a sore thumb as being the worst song on the album... Rolling Eyes

agree! may be they should start airplaying and promoting seven days soon, quite earlier than the single like with feels just like it should,so more people could buy dynamite and also the first single as it may hook up them by the better album version.
(why i really care about this? all that extra money will be all for sony Evil or Very Mad )
