Post your Dynamite testings!
Hello Jamirotalkers,
I thought this was an interesting topic to make cause this morning I went to college with a friend and she told me to bring a CD because she had a discman. Alright I said, so I brought of course 'Dynamite' to see what she thinks of it.
After hearing the entire album during the maths class, then we had breakfast and ask her what she thought about the album and which were her favorite tracks. So she listened again track by track. So you have an idea, she listens latin music (Ricardo Arjona, Diego Torres) and dance music too, a lot (I also remember she took my Black Eyed Peas album to record it). Is very interesting what she said about the album.
The tracks she liked were FJLIS, Starchild, Talulah (said at the beginning it was a song from the -computer game- The Sims... haha she's so right!!!), GHAC said it was the most disco in the album; the best one for her was SDISJ and she enjoyed a lot BDC -said: "this one is very very good"). While HTB, EM and LB were 'so so'. WTHW was another one she liked. But she had big expectations with 'Dynamite'... and didn't like the song!!! I bet with a few listenings she will like it. And about 'TWW'... near the 35 seconds she said 'oh no no'. I asked her 'why??' 'looks like a.... a .... Bee Gees song' (?!!??). Overall she liked it and she wants a copy of it (no way, she has to BUY it hahaha).
So this is what this topic is for! Make your own testings on 'Dynamite' to people you know and tell what they think about it -that is, try with someone who doesn't like JMQ that much or that you know they might like it-. A nice way to convince them is telling that their reviews is for a poll that we are running in the site ; )
What do people think about Dynamite??!

Hi,
My parents listened closely to 'Dynamite' a few days ago and they liked it. They are not fans, in fact they prefer not to hear it. But now I forced them to listen! And my parents were positive. My father says it's more music than the first albums, they're playing more as a band, not every instrument a solo. My mother thinks it is a dancable, disco album.
My father, the more rock-orientated one, prefers FJLIS, BDC and HTB, my mother likes SDISJ, Starchild, (D)GHAC and TWW and she loves (!) Talulah and WTHW.
They were really surprised when they first heard it, in a good way. So I think the album will be more wide accepted than earlier albums...

I played the album on my ipod for my friend at school, who loves canned heat and cosmic girl... he said GHAC was the best track, as it is very similar to Canned Heat, and he also liked Electric Mistress as a cool dance track. Overall his impressions were very positive, and believes the album is most like Synkronized (which to him is very good!)
Another of my friends who had heard me raving about Jamiroquai all week, came up to me and goes "Hey John! Your new Jamiroquai album is CRAP!" Apparently he downloaded it and thought it wasnt very memorable. Although... he doesnt have a positive word to say about anything, so he might grow to like it! |

As soon as I got it I made the bassist from my band listen to it... sometime ago i lend him all the previous albums and he concluded that Stu was the man hahaha and the best one was ROTSC... well now he liked Dynamite (but not the chorus), Starchild, Talulah, Black devil car (especially the rocky part), Time wont wait and Electric Mistress... about the other songs he said FJLIS sounded like Lenny kravitz... SDISJ was a song for the girls... LB was interesting but kind of rare... GHAC... was too disco... HTB... he never found sthg reggaeish about it (and he loves reggae).... I was forgettin WTHW he only heard 30 secs before passing it.... _________________ We're going to a funktion yeah yeah yeah |

I sat two Jami music friends of mine down to listen to a few tracks the other day. One friend's face as she was listening was a little puzzled as it was new and theres alot going on in these songs. She liked it, thought it was different. Perhaps we have to relax into it, dont expect but let the music pull us around- I hear more and its more cohesive the more I listen. Sitting listening with eyes closed is good but for starchild (just listened to that one tonight) Ive been dancing around the basement. Really beautiful music guys, that track plugs me in. Will play some of these for the people at work later today... |

known as the funky guy: Me, went to the university seven days ago (yeh in sunny june hehe), and i shown the album to my friends... they liked FJLIS, and BDC (they said it's a funny song), and they danced a lot TWW and SC (StarChild), they liked DGHAC and Tallulah... i'm amazed of this cos funk music is not well accepted in my country... i mean, so much punk and rock makes the people hate it... they usually say: funk goes for the 70's, we are now at the 00's.... i look them like i think that it is MTV's fault... for showing pure punk, rock, and new poppie stars... you know.... Britney, Christina, and all those rappers and hip-hop singers... people don't know nothing else about music... and that's why i say that "Music is on the streets, not in MTV"

I let one of my friends listen to some of the tracks while i was driving in my car, and he liked it and wanted to listen to the whole album. I told him how to get it, and after listening to the whole album, he likes SDISJ, but he loves Dynamite and DGHAC. I was chatting with my other friend who just came back from vacation, and let him hear some samples from the album, and he likes Dynamite so far. Once he listens to the whole album, i'm sure he will like most of the tracks. |

I gave a copy to my mum, and she likes it, but wished there was more slow tracks! She told a guy at her work that I had it and he was ecstatic. He said he would really like a copy because he 'loved every single track on the last album' !! He said he'd buy it anyway, so I gladly gave him a copy.
Can't wait to hear what he thinks of it _________________

we were driving back home one day and my cousin wanted her cd-player back, which I stole from her to listen do Dynamite. She turned it on and listened to every track. She liked SDISJ very much, but she said she's takin it home to check the whole album. After few days I asked how she feels about it, and she said it's great. Really guys, this album is really amazing and I can't wait to play Dynamite (the track) on a party one day at home. _________________ Can you feel it? I'm stuck inside a huricane |

Hello there,
My aunt saw the video of 'Feels Just Like It Should' when she was watching Cosmo Channel ( ? ) They were talking about fashion, etc etc and they played the video. OK, she liked it. Said it wasn't like the ordinary Jamiroquai, and then I played the song for her. She liked it . Oh, also enjoyed the screen saver, I had to put it in her computer cause it doesn't work in mine as you know
This week I'll play the record to more friends

this is MY testing of Dynamite...
just got mine a few hours ago...
standing at the counter, my mind was so mixed-up thinking whether i was doing the wise thing...well i was thinking of downloading the whole album from p2p since i'd expected Dynamite going to be a pile of shit...but i couldn't hold the temptation of getting the cd since everyone here were talking about this and that tracks so that's it..i'm going to get it!!...but the frustration that i had with AFO still haunting me and when i was walking out from the record store, i'd felt a slight regret for buying Dynamite eventhough i haven't heard the whole album yet...
anyway...i reached home, went to my room and put the cd into my hi-fi...i quickly skipped the first track, which is FJLIS, because it's suck..so my first track was Dynamite...when the space-distort voice intro came, there's a sudden moment where i felt like being cheated again..it was like listening to AFO for the first time again(remember the blinking2 space-shit sound in the intro of feel so good?)...but when the running bassline came out from the speaker..i felt relief..at last..an original bass sound...well dynamite is quite a cheesy song but the bassline somehow save it...then moved on the next track and another till the last song...
i thought Dynamite was going to be suck BIG TIME but actually it's not a bad album...certainly not as good as the first 3 but definitely 10 times better than super-garbage AFO IMO...i put Dynamite in the same level as Synkronized...there are few cheesy songs which i consider should be given to poppish boybands, some are moderately, decently good and the rest are the true Jamiroquai sounds...
my favorite Dynamite tune at the moment, definitely without a doubt is Talullah...listening to Talullah somehow make me feel that Stuart, Toby, Simon and the rest of the wind section guys were still around ...i miss those guys
well as for the testing Dynamite to other people...i havent done that and probably will never do that since almost everyone here is into top-40 kinda music...so getting them to listen to Dynamite will be a waste of time coz they definitely wouldnt like it..they dont even like the first 3 album..what else Dynamite... _________________ Selamat Pagi Dunia |

i've played it to alot of people = alot of people like it.
the only problem is that people tend to assume that Jamiroquai is either "shit" or "gay" or "electronic", or all of these. hence why it's thin ice to tread on. |

Hello Jamirotalkers,
I've been testing the '(Don't) Give Hate A Chance' video, to friends with all different kind of music tastes. All of them liked it. They found it very original, and they laugh when the guys start dancing near the end
