Pula, The Pula Arena
It was a very hot day in a very sunny June. I a Jamiroquai concert virgin was at my first Jamiroquai concert. I didn't know what to expect, but wat happend was a realy beautiful experience for someone who has been a Jamiroquai fan for 10 years. Dogma the was quite interesting and good and they played they set for 30-40 minutes but we were all waiting for the good stuff. After Dogma the stage crew came to prepare the stage and to tune the instruments while we were listening to Aretha Franklin, Lady Marmelade and similar stuff. And then it started with a short Electric Mistress intro which wasnt played live (buu huu huu) the band got in their positions and started playing Canned Heat which was followed by Space Cowboy. Then Jay sad hello while we were clapping, chearing much to his surprise. Then it started again with Cosmic Girl which was for all the Cosmic Girls and then Jay said 'We'r gonna play you a song from our first album it's called Revolution' and that is the the place where I just couldnt keep on remembering the setlist I was having to much of a good time to be bothered with that stuff. We cheared, clapped after every song and Jay and the band were wery happy. Neadles to say that Jay was on top form with his funky moves, jumping around the stage.
We were also treated to little Jay gems especialy when he said that he was a 'good boy' and that his mother if she were here would say so he was such an angel that every night he 'prepared chocolates for his mom', 'did the shopping', 'does his own laundry' (ladies take note of that), 'has never smoked a joint in his life' and 'has never broken the spead limit' with his Ferarri which can go up to 218 mph but he only did 30, and in another performance Jay told the crew to shut the lights and took out his light sabre and said 'I'm 35 but when I have this im 7', we called him 'Darth Mirko' that was funny somebody in a crowd started shouting 'Mirko' (a Croatian name) and the crowd joined in neadles to say that Jay was a little confused he must have thought What does Mirko mean? but it was all good. It was amazing we were loving it and the band was also enjoing themselves I think smiles on their faces ment that they were having a great time also. They also performed to me two songs that they don't perform very often Use The Force and Butterfly for which Jay said was 'for the lovers'. The songs just keept coming and I did'n want it to end but it did with Virtual Insanity and the crowd went crazy, then they said thank you, goodbye and went backstage. But were not having any of that we wanted more and we were making it clear, and after cople of minutes they were back smiling and Jay with his camcoder was filming the crowd and we were treated with a rocking Deeper Underground.
And though my mind didn't want it to end I was so tired from all that dancing, singing, jumping, claping and chearing so I wasn't very dissapointed. It was an amazing show, but I was surprised that they did only three song from Dynamite, Feels Just Like It Should, Seven Days In Sunny June (because it was June) and Black Devil Car which I thought was fenomenal.
I do have one regreat and that I didnt borrow a digital camera from someone, I was so close to the stage so I could have taken some great pictures.
Here is my try of recreating the setlist from last night
Electric Mistress Intro (not played live)
Canned Heat
Space Cowboy
Revolution 1993
.
.
.
.
Virtual Insanity
Encore
Deeper Underground
As you can se there is a huge blank space, I know what songs they did but not the order in which they were played.
Here is the list of all played songs
from Eemergency On Planet Earth
Revolution 1993
Music Of The Mind
Too Young Too Die
from Return Of The Space Cowboy
Space Cowboy
from Travelling Without Moving
Cosmic Girl
High Times
Use The Force
Alright
Virtual Insanity
from Synkronized
Canned Heat
Butterfly
Deeper Underground
from A Funk Odyssey
Little L
Corner Of The Earth
Love Foolosophy
from Dynamite
Feels Just Like It Should
Seven Days In Sunny June
Black Devil Car
If somebody who has been to Pula has the complete setlist please post it here.
Thats it from me quite a lot for my first post.
And a last message to all Jamiroquai fans if you can go to a Jamiroquai concert go eaven if it's not so close (I had to drive 4.5 hours in one direction but it was worth it),
you won't regret it.

You counted right, CosmicMouse. The concert was amazing and the band was having so much fun, so they played on and on and on.
Well, they started at half past nine and the concert lasted until quarter to midinight, you do the math. |

They played 18 tracks live, the intro was in fact Electric Mistress and that was not played live becasue during that time the band got to their positions and took their instruments, and then they started playing Canned Heat. |

hi guys!
its so difficult to realise jamiroquai play somewhere
and i am not there...
i feel like i am losing something so important for me these days...
i am a bit depressed and dont know what to do...
also what i am worried about is that they played butterfly and high times, not played in Budapest
and its my dream to hear these songs live... if they wont play butterfly
and high times on the gig i will go, i will die!!!!
(the other Pula and Budapest songs i also dream to hear live but i am sure they will play
them on each gig during dynamite tour.)
ps cheeba, dynamite tour will be long so dont be sad, maybe you'll go to other europe gig!!! |

@HighTimes: You're so right, the setlist was amazing, almost perfect, but not too perfect hehe. I sent David the scan of a setlist I managed to get, you can see it on Funkin site. It had Emergency on Planet Earth on it!! Imagine they played this, it would be 4 songs off the first album. Well, they did Virtual Insanity instead.
