Bullet
What do you think of this track? I just downloaded it and I found out that it was on the Virtual Insanity single, and I wonder why it wasn't part of TWOM! It's such a wonderful instrumental, so much like the band's acid jazz roots! The brass is magnificent, and the turntable wizardry works very well (courtesy of Mr. DJ D-Zire).
Tell me what you think!

hmmm, deeper underground is on synkronized. at least on the european-release. and do it like we used to do it is on the japanese and/or australian-release of AFO as far as i remember... ;)
my favorite is still deeper underground. but it's my all-time-favorite anyway... _________________ Dear Auntie Em. Hate you, hate Kansas, took the dog. Dorothy. x |

Yeah, I knew about those various releases. Deeper Underground was not included in Synkronized on the American release, and Do It Like We Used To Do was also not on our AFO. Still, I included them on the poll because they weren't distributed worldwide like Canned Heat and Little L, for instance.
Among the songs listed above, which is your favorite (if you have one, I can't decide myself)?
Cheers.
P.S.~I just assumed DJ D-Zire did the turntables for Bullet.....does anyone know for sure (I bet DIDGIN does.......) |

I'm not gonna vote because I too cannot decide. They're all too good. If I voted for one of them it would just be a lie because I enjoy all of them. _________________

when I hear turn tables in jamiroquai songs I always asume they were scratched by DJ d-zire. I don't think they used someone else (unless of course there are turntables on the 5th album which I have never heard, but that's impossible of course) _________________

yeah, I haven't heard any turntables on AFO.
But anyway, anyone have a comment on Bullet??????? I guess no one wants to discuss it (or is it not worthy of discussion?).
Peace. |

I would love to discuss 'Bullett', but I haven't heard the track ... where did you download it?
My poll vote goes to 'Everybody's Going to the Moon' -- I love that track and like the electronic sound. It is also quite good on the Verona DVD 8)

I got it using a downloading program: Grokster. It's available at
http://www.grokster.com
if you want to try it. I like it, it finds a lot of files. I find many Jamiroquai tracks that I can't find anywhere else on the web, so it's a good resource.
I like Everybody's Going To The Moon quite a bit, but unfortunately I think the lyrics are less than incredible (not up to the usual Jamiroquai standard). I can't blame the band, because it was comissioned for an animated movie (Titan AE) and it probably got very little play time (I haven't seen the movie myself). Anyway, the MUSIC is good, but it's not my favorite. |

Yeah, my computer crashed about two months ago, and the old computer couldn't run grokster, but the new one can! More importantly, the server I use (it's supplied by a university) doesn't block grokster (It blocks most other downloading programs).
Cheers.
P.S.~ I can't believe no one has anything to say about Bullet! It's so chill in the middle, and groovy, and I think it has everything a good instrumental should have (except perhaps, the digeridoo). The notes at the beginning are reminiscent of Just Another Story, which is one of my favorite tracks. I can't explain why I like this tune, but I keep coming back to listen to it more and more. |

I love Bullet!
I'm quite fond of it for a couple of reasons:
1. Well... have you HEARD the song?
2. It was on the very first Jamiroquai single I bought (Virtual Insanity).
Have you heard the bootleg remix of Bullet that puts a Jurassic 5 rap vocal over the top of it? Unfortunately it's not that good, well in my opinion anyway. Some of those bootleg remixes are great when the two tracks work well together, but this one comes off sounding quite sloppy.
Anyway if you want to hunt it down, it's called 'Bullet (#40 mix)'. It's probably worth at least one listen, but it's not really worth keeping. |

I HATE POLLS! they make me rethink my preferences! LOL
but for this i had to pick Slipin and Slidin. great in-your-face jazz - it's so unbelievably brassy. so toe-tappingly, head-noddingly, just-get-up-and-dance-damnitly good. i left it on 'repeat' mode throughout the first week i heard it. the lyrical version is ace too!
Bullet has that TWOM-like vibe... and i agree with Freddie that the some parts of it bear extremely close resemblance to Just Another Story. i love the transitions from the aggressive chunky bits to the smoother horn sections. i'd love to hear the #40 mix, thanks Grooverubberbaby 4 the info!
(for those who don't know, Bullet is featured on the soundtrack to 'Love, Honour and Obey'. To wonder how it got there, i think Denise Van Outen's supporting role in the movie might give some sort of hint. or vice versa. i'm getting a copy of the film soon just to check out the tune... and of course, Jude Law is a lurvely bonus )
as for 'Everybody's Going To the Moon', i soon realized how cheesy the lyrics are, but like Freddie said, can't really blame em. but it does makes a fantastic intrumental, as the live 'Titan' blatantly illustrates. |

I couldn't agree more, davina! You put things into words so well. Slipin' 'N' Slidin' is magnificent too.....I just downloaded it (live from http://www.jam.pl and from the studio) and I love both versions! I have to think, though, why weren't there words on the studio recording???? The lyrics have much more substance than say, Don't Stop The Feeling, so I'm baffled as to why they weren't used. Nevertheless, it makes a great instrumental.
Anyway, to borrow a line from Jamirofan2000, "Thanks for listening, and peace!"
P.S.~sorry about the poll, davina! |

Well, Freddie Hg, Bullet is the best b-side track and why not it might be one of the best Jamiroquai songs ever.
Last night I was listening to it with my headphones and I think that in the first part (until the second 40) Jay is screaming something but I don`t know what. Listen to it very carefully. |
