What's your favorite Jamiroquai cover?
Hey all....

I was thinking about all the covers Jamiroquai has done. I'm curious, what's your favorite? Tell me why.

you forgot "don't stop the feeling", "our time is coming" and of course "hollywood swinging". I think there are more.

some of those covers were for songs I never heard before, like don't stop the feeling and bad girls, I listened to the original versions only because of jamiroquai, and liked them. Ii really helped me expend my taste in music and find out mor jazz/funk music.

one thing is certain - Jay sings miss you much better than mike jagger of the rolling stones. also the song is played better and I liked the saxophone solo mike smith gave when jamiroquai played that song in the tokyo dome back in 99.

aaww...guys i haven't voted! all of jami's covers are just supperrbbbb!!! jami have a tendency of leaving their own style on it......i.e. their cover tends to be ***B*E*T*T*E*R*** than the original song/s. i mean..how often do you see this skill, in a band? so funksters, i refuse to vote for my fave jami cover version....it's just too hard!

here are some of my favourite cover versions, by jami:

*our time is coming.
*tighten up. (i just dig sola's performance, on this track! my goodd...i can hear his drums now!-lol LOL)
*signed, sealed, delivered.
*don't stop the feeling.
*god made me funky.
*sunny.
*bad girls.
*love is the drug. (i had the chance to witness this song being performed at the re:covered show, in london, UK!!!-wicked!! saw Jay struting his stuff!-he performed well, considering he weren't feeling too well! tears bless him! )
*hollywood swinging.

ciao, all!

xxxxxx

Granted all Jami covers are great, but I think that Our Time Is Coming is superior to them all. I mean here in this song you have wicked bass, nice brass, and a great didge part, especially on the MTV Most Wanted version. Wallis just tore the house down with that one. Plus Jay's while r almost completely freestyle, and besides the chorus Jay just goes nuts. Its great to, because the song has a base but sounds different every performance. Also another Jami cover I like is Gettin' Down (A Weldon Irvine Cover). This is a good song too. Toby has some great keys on this one and the breakdown jam in the middle of the song is great too. My favorite version is the Tokyo Ebisu 1995. I suggest you guys look for the jami bootlegs more. Also i like the Copacabana cover...all 1 minute of it neways...and besides the fact Jay just says "At the Copa, Copacabana la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la...." Ok maybe its not even a real cover, but just imagine Jay in a lounge singer outfit singing that...you picture that to don't you? 2ill Its almost so easy to picture it's scary...then Jay belting out a few lines and asking the fat middle age man in the front row how his steak was....God gives me the creeps...Newayz everyone download the Our Time Is Coming from MTV's Most Wanted and Gettin' Down...go on...be gone with you... Wink

Sorry for the apparent number of omissions in the poll.....I guess I thought some of these songs you've mentioned were originals that weren't ever included on an album (like "Don't Stop The Feeling" and "Our Time Is Coming"). These are great tracks, but since the poll has already begun, I won't change it because some might want to change their vote and not be able to. So I'll keep the poll the way it is, but if you like another cover besides the ones listed, just vote OTHER and specify in your post.

Sorry again, but thanks for the responses!

2scratchchin Hmmm.. I like hollywood swingin'. A classic cover originally by kool and the gang. I really like the one off of the "alive without travelling" album, but then there's also the one where Jay trys to do the high parts and.. well.. it's not so good.. from "touring without moving"..

And then there's bad girls, another classic by donna summer, about looking for a good time on the streets. I like the one with anastacia the best, but then there's also the some other ones from some recent concerts..

And finally, there is love is the drug. I just downloaded the original by roxy music some weeks ago, and I have to say, jamiroquai did a way way better job. The way jay sings is much nicer than the original, and the music is more livelier...

So.. I guess that's it for me. Of course I do like every cover, but some are just liked more than others. Wink
