Enhanced LPCM stereo... what's the difference?
Hello Jamirotalkers,

I was wondering, how much different is the enhanced LPCM stereo version of 'Dynamite'?? I'm very intrigued by this!

LPCM is an uncompressed audio encoding format and Enhanced Stereo refers to the fact that the audio mix of the album on the DVD side is at a higher sampling rate (48 kHz/16-bit) than that of a CD (44.1 kHz/16-bit).

Human beings can listen to frequencies between 20 Hz and 20 kHz usually ..so standard audio cd sample rate (44 kHz) seems enough. I said seems because that's not exact, audio "performance" of each single ear is different so there are people who can hear something a little higher than 20 kHz. The sensation with standard audio cd is that "something is missing" in the signal. Getting more technical Nyquist theorem says that with a sample rate of 48 kHz you can sample signals with frequencies up to 24 kHz. That's much better so if you have a good hifi equipment you can hear the difference. DVD Audio goes up to 96 kHz of sample rate but if you're not a dog or a cat and can hear ultra-sounds Laughing i think it's the same...and your equipment must have a super tweeter to play that stuff! Anyway there also are armonics and maybe if you can't hear a 50 kHz sound you can hear its armonics. Finally a higher sample rate is a real good stuff...if you own a cool hifi!
