89.3 The Current!
A pleasant surpirse tonight on thw way home form my late night job. At just about 1:00 AM CST, 89.3 the Current played "Starchild". It sucks that no mainstream top 40 station in the U.S. will touch Jamiroquai with a ten foot pole, but it was good to hear The Current come through for me.

89.3 the Current plays songs that no one else does. They play a lot of Indy Rock, INTL music, local music (mainly Minnesota), hip hop, and classics from back in the day. You can hear in a 3 song sequence: local hip hop group Atmosphere (SAMPLE THESE GUYS FOR SURE IF YOU LIKE HIP HOP), something from Bloc Party next, then something from Bob Marley, and then a new one from Sterolab, and then Ozomatli, and then Miles Davis, and then P. Oakenfold. It's seriously all over the place.

Unfortunately this was the first time I had heard a "Dynamite" song played on U.S. radio. I had requested to the Current a couple of times to play but they didn't. I only catch the station during the evening hours and bits and peaces when driving. So Im not sure if they have been playing a lot of Jamiroqaui or very rarely. Just a heads up that at least one radios station in the U.S. plays them lol. Peace!

Yeah, thanks for that link! We definitely need something like that in Germany...After Viva Zwei was closed, there isn't any Indie music channel...

Its good to have radio stations that are not mainstream. We have a station here called Album 88. It is the radio station for Ga State University and the other day they played Tallulah. I was shocked to say the least because the "mainstream" stations still are totally ignoring my Jam requests. I think they are just so out of touch Rolling Eyes

On the way home the other night they played FJLIS!!!! It sucks that the indy station is the only one supporting them here, but at least it's something. It's almost like Clear Channel is saying "Why waste your time with Jamiroquai, when you could listen to Ashley Simpson 24/7?"
