New York City - October 24th 2005
The concert is tomorrow! I can't tell you how exciting I am, Oh my brothers. I've waited five years for this, and I'll try to post a setlist here first thing Tuesday. Maybe I'll see some of you there! I'll be wearing a tan hat and a navy blue track jacket, and of course, my blue suede adidas shoes. |

You are in for a great night, "Freddie." My mind is still blown from last night's show at the Roxy in Boston. The Nokia Theatre's brand new as well, so the sound should be perfect! Have fun, dude. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. It really does. UNBERIEVABLE. UNBELIEVABLE.
I just got home and I am so achy... Straight two hour set, the most amazing time ever. I was right up from, less than 10 feet from the man himself, and he was in top form, voice sounded amazing, and he looked like he was having a blast. He thanked all the American fans for sticking with the band during the long time away, and I threw a t-shirt to him that said "NY JK" and put my username from jamirotalk at the bottom. He said, "I'll save that for later," but he never looked at it again.
But wow, just amazing. I always knew it had to be spectacular, but I never knew how lucky you Europeans were to see him so much. I can die happy now.
Met some great jamirofans there too, I told 'em about Jamirotalk, I hope they come around. If you're reading, it was nice meeting you all. Felt good to have people who are as crazy fans as I am.
So, that's all I've got. Obviously the show was just too unbelievable to jot down the setlist, but it was amazing. I got some great pictures too, took a whole roll, and I'll be developing those tomorrow. Anyway, take care fans, peace! |

GREAT SHOW!
I flew all the way from Arizona to see the show at the Nokia and it was worth every penny. The sound quality was excellent, the crowd was fabulous, and the band was super-tight. Even though I am one of those Jami fans that can get a bit nostalgic for the old days...I think that this was a superior show than the one that I saw in San Francisco in '97.
Highlight: for me personally, hearing Light Years in person was fabulous, as it was the song that first snared me & turned me into a fan. Hearing hundreds of my compadres singing the "now I got that sunshine in my life" refrain...LOVED IT.
Lowlight: (aside from the unhinged anti-semitic jerk behind me and therefore about 15 feet behind Freddie) - small quibble about not having a horn section - a couple of songs (particularly High Times and Light Years) really missed it - I have to agree with others who have said that Deeper Underground is a bad, bad, bad song to use as an encore here in the States. I personally don't care for the song and it's obvious that the crowd didn't either. While I didn't miss "virtual insanity" it would have been better to stick Deeper Underground earlier in the set and have Alright as the encore. But this is a minor quibble, still a great show. Jay did seem genuinely appreciative and his thanks to the US fans seemed very heartfelt and was much appreciated by me (after having at least 5 people on Times Square come up to me, ask me what I was waiting for, and then seeing their puzzled looks when I told them "Jamiroquai".) |
