Shoot your own JAMIROQUAI video
If you were the director of the next JAMI video, what, how and where would you like to film?
"Love Phoolosophy" was much criticized. How would you have put his song into pictures?
"Corner of the Earth" is the next single to come. What would you like to see in this video? |

in my head, i see the next video like this: the grand orchestrated intro... the video will open with sweeping sand dunes... and the camera will move across the scenery to find jay's face resting on the sand! the audience will realize that it's just a close-up shot of him playing with some sand. and then he starts singing, and it will just show him walking around in green meadows, jumping around, lying down for a while, enjoying the sunshine, getting up again, running up hills to get a breathtaking view of a valley, rolling in the grass, and just getting high on nature. a great place to shoot would be his own residence, but if that's the case, then the valley scene may have to be digitally inserted... :P maybe you could throw in a horse at the end, and he'll ride off into the sunset or something... yes, i can see it all manifesting in my head right now... aw, luvely... :) |

WHY ALONE ?
Hi Davina,
Your suggestion is quite original, to me at least.
I was expecting a video suggestion with the other members of Jami. I understand that you have a right to be JK-oriented after your wonderful experience of dancing with him on the stage at the concert.
I also find it hard to figure out JK on a beach. Why after all? I don't know.
Oh, yes, I know now: I would be so dissapointed (and madly envious) if some too good-looking models were snearing out in their bikinis!
At first sight, I was not too keen on the idea with the horse. Now the horse can be interpretated as the symbol of the better side of Human. In the novel "Gulliver", the author (oops, I forgot his name, but at least he was English) describes the tribe of the horses as the embodiment of the Goodness in human nature: no cheating, no stealing, and a close relationship to Nature.
So why not? |

I've said it before and I'll say it again: ROTATING FLOORS!  j/k I'm just hoping it fits the theme of the song and doesn't have fast cars, girls in bikini's, big screen TV's, etc. Maybe something more Earthly and natural. I'm not saying that fast cars, bikini's and big screen TV's are bad but, it just wouldn't fit the tone of the song.

wow sunnyray, i'll never see horses in the same light again... thanks for the enlightment! :) i don't visualize jay on a beach... just a sandy patch of a meadow... a bit like a bunker in a golf course. and how foolish of me to forget about the other members... i would put them alone playing their respective instruments, and jay will pass all of them one by one throughout the video and he'll hang around each of them and smile and do some nonverbal male bonding, LOL :) thanks so much 4 your thoughts sunny. yesterday my life was filled with rain... ;D |

haha i knew that part sounded strange - i was thinking the same thing when i wrote it! i didn't know how to put it... y'know, stuff that guys usually do together like bear hugs and mock punching around etc... but i guess nonverbal male bonding can mean many other things, eh? :P
btw read about ur own video idea... interesting! animation stuff would be cool... stuff like surreal watercolor settings...
but it would be just as nice to have the real thing. c'mon, if jay can spend millions on a house, what's a few more million on a fantabulastic video? :) |

Yes Davina.
I clearly see what you mean. This "male-bonding" stuff is an interesting topic to explore. I will have to tackle my imagination or JAMI is going to turn up to a boy group in my mind!
What I am talking about? I can't stand boy groups! 
I did not have any precise idea about the style of animation, but your idea of "surreal watercolors settings" seem a very esthetic solution. 
I love watercolors! This would look quite original on a video. And that's what I want about JAMI: originality.
Can you think of a former music video using watercolor painting? I think there was one in the 80's. Was it Enya with "Sail Away"? This is too long ago, I cannot remember.
Anyway, I am still convinced that "Corner of the Earth" is THE opportunity for JAMI to express their originality and beauty and eventually bring some fresh air in their image communication. |

i don't agree with you mouse! why being disillusioned? (i hope, you checked this word in the dictionary as i am only coping it )
i think, lots of the jamiroquai-videos have been done in a really creative way. and not only the old ones! look at Little L! it uses modern video-editing-tools and effects.
i do think or at least hope that it will be done in a creative way rather then "just" showing a guy walking around, singing his song...

I hope the video for COTE is something along the lines of how Davina described it, and there's also that clip in the J Funk section on .co.uk which is quite sweet. And yes, I think there should be other band members in it too!
But, I suspect there is a theme running at the moment with AFO. Last 3 videos? LOTS of girls dancing (a few guys here and there, but not many!), cars, Jay dancing a lot and singing to camera. How about something a little more natural? I'd like to see the other guys lip syncing, like they did at the end of the Stillness In Time video. Actually, just take them to another hot desert and get them to do a SIT remake!! I'm so easily pleased!

i will do it a new version of cosmic girl based on the live shows...
and about the cars, yea i love that but if i can make a change obviusly i wouldnt do three different versions, only ne very fast and full os road images...yea, a cosmic girl video more long than now
