ONLINE PETITION: Remaster EOPE & ROTSC!
Hello,
You know, I have discussed this into detail in the past on Talk, and I think it's a ripe time to point out this solid fact yet again . I have started a new online petition asking Sony/BMG UK to release expanded and audio remastered editions of Jamiroquai's first 2 Studio releases, "Emergency On Planet Earth" and "Return Of The Space Cowboy". You have to admit, the sound quality of these audio aren't really up to the par with the current quality of music, and really deserve, for the sake of the importance of the music, a update. I really would like to see them rereleased with expanded artwork and photographes, legable and correct lyrics for all songs involved, and a much clearer audio quality. If you agree with me, please sign this petition I have started at the following link, and I really appreciate the support:

I just hope this petition in some part causes Sony/BMG to respect the wishes of the Jamiroquai fanbase and reinvigorate these classic albums of important music! Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

Couldn't agree more!!!
I think its a great idea to petition for these remasters Jamirofan and it did make me stop and think for a second.
I mean these albums are almost perfect anyway but the thought of having them with enhanced sound quality just makes me feel dizzy! _________________ 'This is the world he wants, pray for the brave and the young...' |

Well I think TWM deserves a remastered version of it.. It's not my favorite album but the sound quality is worst of all jamiroquai albums, if you compare it with Synkronized, Funk Odyssey and Dynamite, they really have a sharp sound... I think it's a fact that TWM hasn't have a perfect sound. I don't know how to explain the sound, but it's not really sharp... Somebody knows what I mean? |

It is also possible that remastering, will delete some original "soul" from the music. I've heard it happen .. The master volume is a bit too low in EOPE and ROTSC but.. why touch them otherwise? _________________ kite carrier (geuze)

hey brent -
i'm on the fence about remastering those albums, but i do want to applaud your effort and will sign the petition. i think it's great that you are becoming active (once again) in trying to do something for the band and the fans. i think many fans underestimate the power of their voice, so they silence it. let's not forget that after SONY screwed over fiona apple, it was her fans that got her to come out of retirement and got SONY to release her new album that is magnficant. even if the efforts don't make a difference - the fact that you are even doing something is worth recognizing.
i really, really dig that you try and be sure you (and everyone else out there) circulate this petition around.
good luck, deesha |

There's something I really like about the mastering of the first two albums. It adds a certain layer of grit and authenticity..I really can't stand the mastering and production on Dynamite, it's way too polished for me. |

Hello again,
Thank you all for taking the time to support this petition, really hope it does make a difference . And thank you for the kind words, Deesha, I really appreciate it and very humbled . Your very right about everyone's voice, I may not have taken the large strides that most hardcore have taken in the best interest of their favorite band, but at least I've done and continue to do my part for the Jamily. In regards to not adding TWOM to the remaster petition, simply put, it's a perfectly mixed album in my view, it seems after the 1996-97 release, later produced copies of the album were perfect, sound quality & everything else was perfect on it! But I can understand most fans preferental feelings about modifying or changing the audio quality of these timeless albums. All I was feeling, or pointing out per se with this petition is that I think they need a update, that's all, as technology continues to streak by at light speeds, you have to update things to meet the specifications of new music players and so forth, I don't shun old sounds as many think I do. If you still dig the old album sound, then you have a choice, by the basic CD of it OR be willing to part with $5-$7 for the expanded edition of that album, it's as simple as that. Thanks again to everyone who have signed the petition and keep those signatures and comments coming ! Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

i will sign it, but anyway jay wanted that sound in his albums, the have a retro sound quality, you may not believe it, because first 2 are old enough to think they have that bad quality because it was old times, but you can be sure listening to twm, wich haves also that "bad" quality and there was the oppportunity of doing a better sound in those days.
i think in last albums jay wanted to change that and gave the albums more brilliant sound.....but anyway they haven't the best sound quality you can get (example: compare with any late sting album) _________________

Mmmm... no, I like the albums the way they are.
Maybe that's why they sound and they are so special.

I'm agree with the petition, I signed today. But I want to write somethings so important. Like Jamirokaki, that old sound is according to the past times and would be great ig they come released again with enchanced sound, 'cos technologies allows it and always is better a remastered disc.
Anyway, I want to mention some things seem to be indispensable to me. First, Jamiroquai sins on not having released a major quantity of audio-visual material and special editions. For Dynamite just exists a brief catalog and many of those released aren't interesting. Besides, Sony (not Jamiroquai) keep secret and unpublished a lot of live material (every gig is recorded since 1993 on SB audio and video) which would be great to be edited in a collectors pack compiling transcendental concerts of every tour.
Second, Jamiroquai or Sony generally edits material to a slow pace, for which the market of his albums, singles and colectibles is reduced in comparison to other artists like U2.
I don't want to criticize the petitión, only to mention that many things are left in the files and the fans and collectors we conform with the existing things, which to me don't reflects a great variety.
Greetings! _________________ I'm slidin' down the wall

I have signed the petition and also encouraged some fellow fans to do the same.
Like some JTalkers have said, remasters may take away the magic from the original recordings but I think it would be a great thing to hear these albums in enhanced stereo but as to whether they will turn out to sound better or not, its worth the risk.
At the end of the day, we've got the original recordings if were not keen on the remasters and as Jamirofan proposed, the remasters may come out with unreleased material which would be fabulous now wouldn't it! _________________ 'This is the world he wants, pray for the brave and the young...' |
