Questioning Jamiroquai Song Lyrics
Ok, I have a question.
On "A Funk Odyssey", one of my favorite songs is "Corner of the Earth".
I have a question about lyrics:
I looked online and they have it written like this:
"...This corner of the earth is like me in many ways
I can sit for hours here and watch the EMERALD FEATHERS play
On the face of it I'm blessed..."
Now, for some reason I was singing, "...Aero Feathers..."
and I was picturing the white exhaust trials that Airplanes leave in the
sky on a perfectly clear blue sky kind of day. That made perfect sense
for me.
So, I thought...maybe that's what they call those exhaust trails in the UK and HOW COOL IS THAT! So, it was my new word.
So, then I looked up the lyrics to see how it's spelled and they've got
"Emerald feathers" which, I don't understand at all (so maybe you can explain it to me...or maybe it's just for them to know).
Then also I looked up Aero feathers to see if it was a real word...
Arrow feathers popped up: The feathers on the ends of arrows, which makes sense, but still not as beautiful an image as Aero feathers made...for me anyway.
Actually (DUH!) I have the CD cover in my car and it probably has the lyrics and I could of just checked there, and I probably will in a minute here. _________________

I had always assumed it was referring to some kind of bird, but I can only find references to an Emerald Feather fern... which I hope Jay doesn't have growing in his corner of the earth, because it's poisonous to pets!

Ohhhhhh I love COTE so much!
I've always though of that as a metaphore for birds (with emerald feathers) flying in circles or whatever as if they were "playing" or "dancing".
I don't think Jay would mention aero feathers because the song is very nature-related _________________

You know what...
That makes Perfect sense.
It's funny how we make a song into our own.
That song brings back to total youthful innocence and joy.
One of my "magical" memories was lying in the grass and
tripping on the blueness of the sky and the white whispy clouds moving
about, and then of course...the "Aero feathers", ha ha...I guess
I just invented a word.
Your right though, a bird does make more sense, because of the
whole nature thing.
I'm thinking (could be wrong) but Some Toucon birds, Lorikeets have and I'm sure that Probably a lot of tropical birds have emerald feathers.
And, there are some tropical bird stores and clubs that use "Emerald" in their names.
I wonder if it was written while vacationing on a tropical island or something. Mmmmm _________________

The "Quetzal bird" is described as having Emerald feathers.
WOW, check this out:
"iridescent-green feathers of the quetzal bird. These feathers also made up the insignias of Mexican kings. Each feather in the headdresses of the native inhabitants signified an act of bravery of the wearer."

"I can sit for hours here and watch the aero feathers play"
it could be used for an airline company jingle or something |

Hate to be so mundane, but I'd always thought he just meant blades of grass swaying in the breeze...
