American Recording of the 6th Jam Album!!!
Hello everyone, :bm_r:
I'm back, well, took about a week hiatus from the net due to dealing with recovering from Hurricane Isabel as mentioned before in my last post, it really was a nasty hurricane, so many trees fell down like dominoes. Anyhoo, I read at Frenchiroquai.com that JK will record the highly anticipated 6th Jamiroquai album in the States.. YIPPEE ! Jay Kay said, "We're recording it in America to see what it does to the sound. I've always had a bit of a funny thing with America. I don't enjoy myself over there. But I think it's time to give it a fair crack of the whip." Really good to see JK have the courage to bring the recording process to the States, I definitely think the change of locale will really help out the sound. I wonder if they will to a studio near where I reside to record, I remember a while back Michael Jackson came to Virginia Beach to record some tracks from his last LP "Invincible" at a studio there, but he left quickly due to the local press catching whim he was there. Thanks for listening, have a nice weekend and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

This is such wonderful news! If they're over here to record, maybe they could play some gigs! I really want to see them, and I would love to see them soon!
Maybe they'll play some where in New York (I live here now, Jamirofan....sorry to desert you in VA).....I need to see them so badly!
Thanks for the great news, once again. I think the sound could be significantly influenced by the US, and maybe that means more acceptance in the US. We can only hope. Of course, I trust the sound won't be influenced for the worst, even though I don't like much music over here.
Cheers! |

I never quite manageg to understand the connection between the studio's location and the sound of the album _________________

Me neither. Anyway, I don´t know why he built a very good studio in his mansion if he´s not gonna use it.
And they´re not gonna be influenced. I remember an interwiev where JK said that when they are recording they don´t listen to anything in for not being influenced by anything. |

It seems as if Jay would do anything to be accepted in the US. (Don't get me wrong Freddie, I don't think that recording in US is the worst thing he could do )
There are so many younger bands from England that managed to get into the American charts that it's a "must" for him to capture the US market too.
Let's see if it helps to record the album "beyond the pond" ... hm.... is that an english pun?? |

Good and Bad
I think it's a good and bad thing... all in how you look at it. Good because his approach to the music and the fans will be different, plus it gives us US residents a good opportunity to hopefully be exposed to more rare stuff, possibly finally the release of the Verona to a NTSC DVD version, or a US DVD tour or something like that.
Bad in some aspects relating to possibly a too dynamic change in the music. We may not recognize it anymore... I don't like the way they market music here and it drives people to underground spots and to the internet to seek out "fresh" music.
but all of this is still all a strech in speculation. I hope he progresses and does better as an artist from the experience period. _________________ Enter the mind of the coolpoet:

hmmmm?!
I hope that jay does it ´cause he want´s to see what it makes to the sound ...(isn´t that a little bit risky?) and ...not just to ingratiate to the american music market....
still can´t wait for the new album _________________
