Paul Turner Appreciation Thread
Hello Jamirotalkers,

I had to open this topic, cause we posted in the past about the big differences between Zender and Fyffe, always posting the bad things. So I thought it was fair to post the good things as well.

I don't know if any of you may agree with me, but after listening the Metz Bootleg, I believe Mr. Paul Turner is doing a great job, and is playing almost perfectly every song. Keeping in mind he's been with the band for months, he learned all the lines from the previous 2 bassists, and 6! Jamiroquai albums (the 50 songs the band has prepared for the tour).

I thought he deserved at least my respect, and hopefully he'll play in future Jamiroquai/ Jay Kay albums.

D! (dyego)

I totally agree with you, Diego. Fortunately, Paul has been the nice surprise of bandmembers in Dynamite's tour and and a deserving Jamiroquai's bassist. His work with songs like Dynamite, Butterfly or Time Won't Wait is simply fantastic.

Awww... very nice idea! Very Happy

I saw Paul now 4 times live (London, Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt) and his performance was amazing! jumpingmulti
He looks very cool and relaxed on stage as if he really enjoys what he is doing!

I also had the pleasure to talk to him for quite a long time after the show and I have to say that he is a really nice and totally down to earth guy. Very nice! Big thumbs up! good

I would like to take the opportunity to say "THANK YOU, PAUL" for being so supportive with the jamirotalk interview. Very Happy

Great man!

I don't think you will find one person who will disagree.

Paul is a great bass player and will never be compared to Stu as they are both great players in their own right. Fyffe came in to a band who were famously known partly for their bassist, Fyffe couldn't cut the mustard compared to what had been done before him.

Therefore it's 'slightly' easier for Paul, he's walked into band whom people have been listening to for 2 lesser albums than the first 3 - he also didn't record with the band.

Paul is an outstanding bassist and he won't be compared to SZ like Fyffe was.

Of course, i totally agree with you Simon!
at the beggining i didn't like Paul Turner that much... but he's an excellent bassist!! of course nobody can compare him with the big Stuart Zender...

Congratulations Paul!

i totally love Paul Tuner's bassplaying! i said it before and i will say again, he's amazing!
sad that again....nick fyffe gets the negative part (cause as said by diego, he got the bad words from fans comparing him to Stu, and now everybody loves Paul.....)
but i have to give my respect to mr fyffe, he was a young and UNKNOWN and amateur player, and he did great job, yesterday i was listening to midnightsun tour gig and he does great...just that he don't got that jamming feeling.....

I think Paul is doing a very good job. I think he is a mixture between Stuart and Nick. And very impressive he rehearsed all those songs that fast.
The concerts I've been (Rotterdam and Brussels) he impressed me with his relaxed style and he seems to enjoy himself very well.
Thanks Paul!

Jeroen.

I agree with you Diego, he learned so fast and, he plays evry song very good... he is an excelent bassit, and it's true that he didn't have the post Zender pressure that Nick had when he joined the band.

Paul Turner bassplaying fits in Jamiroquai... He's just a great bass palyer... Keeping groove in the tunes and playing simple, that's hard to do even if It doesn't seem so... letting enough space for the others. He play awesome and very relaxed!! That's very good!!! There's no need to be compared to Stu to play like He did (altough many of us would like hehe) Two different players, that's all....Fantastic, He does a great show everytime, being new in the band!!!! Congrats Paul!!! 3party sing good
