**Jamiroquai now on Columbia Records**
wow --- from www.sonybmgmusic.co.uk....
As you might already have heard, Jamiroquai have switched to Columbia Records as a result of the new label structuring at Sony BMG. It's just a business procedure and nothing to worry about because Jamiroquai will continue to produce their unique brand of funked-up grooves for many years to come.

*edit* funkin has it listed as a news item on jamiroquai.com

...ooops... what exactly does this mean?
Columbia records belongs to Sony BMG? Do they have the same conditions? What is changing? And what does the last sentence mean...

many years? Together with Sony (Or now Columbia)?
I don't really know what to think about it...
Well, only time will tell...

"Gosh gee Scoob, you think we lost that scary Sony record executive in the alleyway?"
( Gives off a high shrilled scream of "Zoinks!" like Shaggy from Scooby Doo, but a logical realization fills his face )
Hello,
Hmmmm...as said before, just more "record label title rearranging there", all Jamiroquai's American releases were originally put out by Columbia Records, but then during TWOM, they switched their Jami releases to Epic Records . So not much to hoopla about, just don't think Sony/Jamiroquai haven't confirmed a new, less intrusive record deal here or anything. But you know Sony is sure to pit up a fight for full control of the back Jamiroquai catalogue! However things fall, let's hope for the best! Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

yes, columbia is a label on sony/bmg.
in this shuffle/label structuring or whatever, jamiroquai is the only artist announced to be switching to columbia..i find that kind of strange, but whatever...
i'm sure more info will come as the days go on...and on and on and on...
i'm not thinking too hard about it |

If their stuff was originally out on Columbia in the States then it could be the restructuring has something to do with actually wanting to give the 'Greatest Hits' some... y'know... COVERAGE in the US when it's released? I can't think of any real artistic / creative / other reasons to get in any way excited about it to be honest... in fact I'm sort of wondering why they even bothered to mention it to the fans. I suppose it's Sony's way of saying 'look at us aren't we clever, we've got lots of labels and stuff and none of them mean a bloody thing...'

will they give the boys more money to work on there album, more freedom? will this be better for them? or are they just trying to shut up jay kay? |

New car (Columbia). Same motor (Sony). _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. It really does. Otherwise, I have to be honest, I can see a situation where...there is a possibility that you become lost in the annals of acid jazz history." -- Jason Kay |

I don't know what to think...
Is this good or bad?
If Sony owns Columbia what is the change??
My EOPE album promo from 1993 was released by Columbia, so... it's the same! |

Is this a new contract? Or have they just switched for the release of the "Greatest Hits"? If this is a new contract I'm left asking, "why?" |

sonybmg has a new chief operating officer, i wonder if this was one of the things on his negotiating table.

I'm confused.
I believe the Greatest Hits will be released by Columbia, and the rest is *blank* as we know.
