UPDATED 5/8/06 *Brand New Heavies with N'Dea*
I know there are quite a few BNH fans in here --- Okay, so I don't know how new it is...some of you may have already heard this, but they are back together with N'Dea and the new song a cover of the classic Stevie track, "I Don't Know Why". You can listen to it on the Giant Step jukebox. Enjoy if you haven't already heard:

The Brand New Heavies Back Together Again
Posted by Michael Yu, Mar 21, 11:01 AM EST
Pioneers of the London acid jazz scene, The Brand New Heavies are back together again with N'Dea Davenport. Set to release a new album titled "Get Used To It" on June 27th, we managed to get a sneak peek of what is to come with the track "I Don't Know Why."

Yes it is. That girl who sung on 'Allabouthefunk' was a right snotty little cow. Or so I was told by my mate DJ Trafford Lovething. Who's Simon Bartholomew's best mate and helps the Heavies with all their recording...

Wow! Great production compared to the last stuff I heard from them, and generally lovely!
Looks like we'll all have to run out and buy their new cd _________________ Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication! |

I read the only reason she was in the band was coz her and Jan Kincaid had a thing going... Could be bullshit, I don't really know.
Here's a link to the new track if you'd prefer to d/l:

New song!
Thanks Andrew!
I'm a fan of the BNH but I don't think this song is anything special.
Nice to hear N'Dea back again. She is great on the Brother Sister album! _________________ 'This is the world he wants, pray for the brave and the young...' |

Deesh, yes they did, but it was the first time in AAAAAAAAAAAAAGES. They spend a hell of a lot of time in Japan apparently, where they're absolutely huge (as are Jami - those Orientals have fine taste, clearly!), and according to my friend (who, as I say, is more or less a non-named member of them depending on which project they're working on at a given time) about 90% of the stuff they release isn't done under the BNH name, and nor do they use a 'The people who make up the Brand New Heavies' style tag-line. They do a lot of hook-ups with US hip-hop artists, for instance (like the Jazzmattazz series from Guru a few years ago). So there's a fair chance we're all listening to them a lot more than we realise, as well!

word..well, hopefully they will be back your way this summer. they are only doing 2 dates here, so i am sure many people won't get a chance to see them here either...
just incase there are any jamirotalk heavies fans in the USA that plan on attending the new york and los angeles show (s), here is a contest from giant step to win tickets to either show. the question is fairly umm...easy

N'Dea is a class above. I've just been listening to a DJ Krush track she does vocals on: a lovely song... |
