Everything is clear now:
Solomono from the PN forum has said this:
| Quote: |
| When Stuart Zender left Jamiroquai Ben auditioned to be his replacement and got down to the last two but was pipped at the wire by Nick Fyffe (who, ironically, has just left). |
So, Ben Cullum "just" auditioned for Jamiroquai - he wasn't a session bassist as someone else mentioned.
But still interesting!

| i was over reading his message boards. they are quite informative and great. funny thing is he admitted vomiting during the recording of 'i'm glad there is you'. he said his shrimp lunch came up and then he just kept singing and that if you listen closely, you can hear him getting sick. ew!! i'm listening carefully to it now to see if i hear it. because i never noticed it. |
Deesha,
I am listening this song right now, but cannot really hear him getting sick. Have you already found out which part it is?
Also, I want to wish you loads of fun at the concert in a few days!!
I have read on his message boards that he usually comes out after every concert and makes sure that every fan who is waiting for him will have some time to speak to him and to get autographs. He seems to be a very nice guy who is very close to his fans! Absolutely amazing!! I keep my fingers crossed that you will make it and meet him! Have fun girl!!!

hey meike -
i haven't found that part, but i pet on the PN forum it's identified. i'll check it out this week while bored at work...in the beginning his voice is very clear and then it gets groggy and he also sounds like he cuts one of the words short at the end of singing a part..but that could be just my hearing!
and the gig is tomorrow.since it is the building right next door to my work,i'm going to scope things out before and after the concert with hopes of returning with a picture of me and mr.cullum. i am very excited. i'll also see him in june in a smaller venue, so i have hopes of that one also.
thanks for the thoughts. will be back to report, deesh |

hey mouse -
i am so tired, but still flying high from last night. great concert. i posted my review over at the jc forum, and will PM to you here.
i had a disposable camera, because i didn't want them to take my real one, so many didn't come out..but here are 2 that are great. the first is jamie in the audience. he goes all around and sings to everyone saying 'you are getting your moneys worth' and the second is when i met him:

I have started reading your review... will continue now!
I have to wait until August for Jamie to come here... but I know it will be worth to wait!

Wow I totally missed this post!! I recently saw jamie for the first time in Washington D.C., and wow did he blow my mind.. I definitely had the same "panic" like reaction as I did after the first time I saw Jamiroquai, where following the show I scramble to find tickets to any sold out show within a 500 mile radius of my neighborhood. Jamie is an incredible musician, no one should be that skilled at 26!! Such fantastic music, the cds don't do him justice after seeing his live performence |

thanks mouse!
and Jamiro-Pi314 from your other post - i totally agree. if jamie cullum and jamiroquai did a concert together, i'd be right there front row. it'd be interesting to see how fans from each would receive the other... |

At the Washington concert, it seemed like a eclectic mix of people, definitely a good number of middle aged fans as oppose to the young adults. One thing I'm also curious about, is what jamie cullum thinks of jamiroquai ..being that they're both from London and have a strong European follwings. |
