Cars
I've read so many articles about Jay's cars (except for the GQ article from last July - can't find that one anywhere) and they all have conflicting reports about which Aston Martin he drives. I *love* cars (even though I can't drive) and Astons are my favourite, so I am just curious. They said on Top Gear once and I read in the easyjet inflight mag last July that he has a Vanquish (would be about a 2002/2003 model, very likely), a late-model DB9 (also likely), a DB7 (an older 80s model - not as likely) or a DB5 (a 70s model, I wouldn't have thought so)... so can anyone enlighten me? _________________

Replying to my own post... but I've found a decent pic from 2004 and it turns out to be a DB5 - a very nice car indeed! Does anyone have any more recent articles? His collection is up 17 I think and I'm curious about what they are... _________________

You might find a scan of the GQ article in the archive section over at Funkin. And yes, it's a DB5. It gets a mention in the sleevenotes of TWM, if you read closely
Might also interest you to know that Jay was the youngest person ever to get insured on a Lambourghini...

I doubt it's only because of that, actually. He's a very good driver, and was one of very few people of that kind of age who was both a good enough driver AND had enough money AND the inclination to buy that car at the age of 23 or 24.
I mean when you think about it, not too many younger than he was then (ROTSC release) will have TRIED to get insured on it, after all...
One of my brother's friends phoned up to get an insurance quote for a Bugatti Veyron a couple of months ago (as a joke, obviously). He's 19. £500,000 annual premium with a £150,000 excess. I'm not sure I believe him because I very much doubt they'd actually agree to give him a quote at all, but the figures sound suitably stupid...

Well i saw Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear attempting to get a quote for a Bugatti Veyron, and eventually after asking "is it a Rover??" they declined and said that they would not be able to ensure him. |

Yeah, I saw that too. Funny, wasn't it? Though in fairness that was before the Veyron was actually 'released'. Clarkson was driving the only working one on the planet whilst trying to get the quote... Whereas my brother's mate (claims to have) tried it just a month or two ago.
