...finally, i can write something about the weekend - - -

Friday, July 21 - Saturday, July 22

I was at work and there was a huge project to be done. God bless everyone at my job. They all pitched in to help me get it done, so I could leave. I had to leave work by 3pm to make it to New York in time for my flight. It was about 245pm and we got it done. My boss came to my desk and told me to go, he'd deliver the materials. I Heart him. I bolted to the train station with my luggage and to New York JFK airport. On the way, I get a call from Claudia - she is stuck in traffic and is going to miss her flight (we were on different flights) Shocked . I freaked out, but remained calm for her and assured her that she'd get there. I made it to JFK with no time to spare. Walked right on my flight. Claudia's husband called and told me she would be on a flight after mine - I breathed a bit easier, took my seat on Virgin Atlantic and went to sleep. I woke up at 9am in London. Waited for Claudia only to find out her flight was cancelled and she would be in London on Saturday night. I also saw footballer Peter Crouch in the customs line. I was gross and sweaty, but I don't think he's cute, so I didn't care about how I looked. Laughing

Went into London and met Chena at our ghetto ass hotel:

Grabbed some food and then went back and took a shower and then my lovely Zed called. It was soooo good to talk to him. Took a nap and then went to meet the Jamily at Angel Tube Station with Chena. I remember Anna running towards me first and then I hugged everyone, including Bear, who I was so excited to see again. Jeroen - you are just a doll to look at Smile :

I handed them CD's and then went and met everyone else at the Bond station with Chena. We got there and saw Janny P (xoxoxo) immediately with Steve, Ben, Claire, and Nina. I wanted to eat. I always want to eat. We went to a pub and got drinks (me..diet coke - don't drink on hot days). We sat down and chatted. I enjoyed talking to Ben - such a nice, witty guy. Then we saw Sandra and Marlene. Hugged and all that stuff:

Then made a call and met up with the other group. This was madness. Saw my friend Sam, handed him his CD! I loved chatting and being all mushy, but I (and Nina) were hungry, so we were trying to move everyone to food. Bear screamed, scared everyone and we moved FINALLY to food:

More madness...25 hungry and thirsty people resulted in us ending up at a Lebanese restaurant with "licky-licky" music. Natalie, Chena, Nina and I were just laughing so much - Balls, Balls, Balls!!! Nina - CHEESEBURGERS! I'm all about culture and food, but damn it...I was starved! I was enjoying myself with everyone, including the waiter, who was really nice. I was so worried about Claudia. Anyway, we ate and I took random pics. Lee (another doll to look at) and Anjing joined us, as well as Erica!!! - I was so happy to see her again..another Black Jamiroquai fan!! Wink :

Then Chena and I left, loved our "experience" and went back to the hotel, where finally we found CLAUDIA!!!
After realizing that we have all Sunday to chat, we went to bed...zzzzz

Sunday, July 23
Our phone rings, it was Claudia (she was in another room) - she says she is up and let's go. So, we and Chena get up and we get ready to roll out to Victoria Park. It was like 715am, but all of us are early risers at home, and we had a policy that we didn't come across an ocean to stand behind anyone Smile . We leave the hotel:

On the way we stop for water and the lady at the store says, "Are you just coming from work"...EXCUSE ME? I guess we did look like strippers in tank tops with bags at 715am, but damn...I corrected her and said, NO we are going to a concert, came from America and wanted to be there early. We got to Victoria Park and searched all around for the entrance. Found it! We chatted it up with Vince and James at the front gate and then I see this shady character emerge out of the woods...ZEDDDD!!! He and I have this unwritten "#1 superfan" thing between us, so although he told me he was going to be there at 9am, he showed up at 8am. He brought with him pictures from when I saw him in Mexico City in 2005. Good times, Good Times. So good to see him...I don't think words will do it justice, so I'll skip that part...Heart you Z! He is hilarious and joined our trio immediately:

Then the other Jamily started pouring in...:

We were just all chatting, talking, laughing, PLOTTING (don't front... Twisted Evil ), and waiting for the doors to open. I talked to the security guards a lot to pass time and they were very nice. I gave them condoms and flirted and just had fun until the doors opened. I made friends with guards Patrick and Steve. Then time was getting near. Doors were about to open and the line was getting long. I had to pee!! So Zed held down my spot while I found the bathroom with Claud. We never did find it, but I did get to see some hot men playing soccer and hear soundcheck. Got back in line..doors opened and whooooosh - it was craziness. I mean, you would have thought we were crackheads going to find a hit in the front row. DRAMA. I took off my shoes, which now looking back grosses me out - but anyway, I didn't realize how far the front was. Security guard stopped us and we started speed walking like we were exercising. I looked at Zed, he looked at me - we made that unspeakable connection and I just screamed - GOOOOOO! He did and so did everyone else, so as a result, we all ended up in front:

Claudia strolled up with our bags a few minutes later. She was in charge of them - so beautiful, I love her! Anyway, once we were all there, we cheered and all that stuff:
(one of my favorite pics from the day..courtesy of claudia)

Okay, this part is a blur...I walked around in a bikini top that I probably shouldn't have been in - but it was HOT, ate, sat, sang, danced, and joked around with the front row for about 8 hours...went to try and see my friend spin in the dance tent, blah, blah, blah..then Mr. Jimmy Cliff - who with all due respect rocked! He and his band were phenomenal and that girl dancing - my gosh...she was so sexy, I was gay for a few minutes. So, anyway...Claudia got a nice gesture from one of them..sorry honey, I had to mention it. Seeing Stuart play was wonderful, talking to him was great, talking to Derrick was nice too - he was surprised we came so far. I have a few pictures of Stu, Jimmy Cliff, Derrick, but they look like everyone else's or have already been posted, so I'll skip them!

Lights come on and we are ready for Jamiroquai. I have some guys private parts right on me and I turn around and tell him he needs to back up if he wants to have children in the near future (but I was nice about it..I love people, I do), and then some other chic was being pushy, but Zed told me to chill, so I did and decided nothing was going to ruin this concert for me! Then the guys came on and we went crazy. I remember random things like turning to Zed when they played 'Stillness In Time' and screaming and Claudia saying to me, 'Are you crying'...It just happened, I'm a sap. And when they played If I like It...turning to Zed - it is his favorite song..beyond that. I was very excited for him at that moment. We were fumbling with the camera, the glow bracelets, the shirts, the condoms, the water, everything...singing, dancing, jumping, going crazy, just living in the moment - it was wonderful. Just to be there and not have any responsibility outside of that moment. It all seems silly when I type it out - afterall I am 28, but when SIT came on, I took a deep breathe and was so proud of being there, so happy that I did what I said I was going to do, and so happy to look to my right and see my best friend who I wouldn't have went through that experience without. All year, all days we work and we work hard at being who we are and surviving and this one moment, this weekend was ours. Sounds corny, but that thought brought on the tears.
The guys/girls waved at us and I think we so grateful to see the front row there..so grateful.
Okay, so it's over..not really - we have to get Sharon and David to the party. I'm just about losing it. Confused at what we are doing, where everyone is, blah, blah, blah...I find Bear and Mouse and we start plotting. I tell the Rowe's to just trust me PLEASE. hahahahaha..I looked like I had no idea what I was doing, so I know it was hard for them to put their life in my hands for the next 30 minutes. Bear, Mouse and I worked it out, went to McDonalds and finally made it to the damn party:

Lovely, lovely, lovely. I wanted to see David shed tears, so I tried hard to get him to cry, but Sharon did instead...they are so cute:

I had no idea what I was going to say during the speech besides thank you, blah, blah, blah..I had no voice and barely any sleep - but I got through it. I am sorry I spoke so fast for those that didn't understand English..Sorry Embarassed . The words came naturally for The Rowe's..such gems they are. Funny party moments had to be catching Jeroen modeling - awwww Smile, Us NY girls feeling like bridesmaids at the end of a movie - credits rolling!!!, seeing everyone dance together, and constant flashes going off - there has to be at least 1000 pictures, dancing with Bear, and Chena and I dancing with David - you're so tall! I got to see some other faces at the party like Sarah and Phil, again Erica...and a few others, and I missed Sam - I didn't get to say Goodbye my friend. random party pics:

Towards the end, we danced and said our goodbyes:

I didn't cry until Jan hugged me! I shed a tear for many reasons..Not so much caught in the moment, but that we did it...that I did it and I had to now go home, plus I was EXHAUSTED! We got in our car service, got lost, but finally made it to the hotel..goodnight Smile

Monday, July 24
The next day was full of chaos with the hotel, but nothing could ruin our vibe. We met David for lunch - he and Chena (this is the morning after look...tired..zzzz). It was good to see him before we left. Like a 360 to the whole weekend:

He took us to the Apple store and then we parted with Chena and headed to the airport. Our flight was 2 hours delayed, but we were so silly the whole time, we got through:
Arriving at JFK, I came out first and saw Claudia's family. I ran to them and Sofia (her daughter) smiled at me, but wanted Mommy! It was so cute when Claudia saw her again. I then said Goodbye to them at the airport, shed another tear and headed home to Philly..and at 1:03am..arrived back home.

Wow..what a journey..Thanks all of you for reading through my long, mayBe boring story. I didn't mention everyone by name, because there is no need for that. It felt good to meet people in person, because I'm not sure what type of vibe I give off sometimes online, so for you all to meet me and see and feel the person that I am meant a lot to me. Thank you so much for a kick ass weekend, one that will be stapled deep inside my soul for a long time. You are amazing people - some of you are parents, spouses, students, just everyday people struggling to make it in this life and it's not easy, so when you can step outside that everyday grind and find what makes you smile - it's a blessing and I'm happy to be part of that.

I thank God that we all met and that we all travelled safely to and from London...I'm done being mushy for the night and my medicine is wearing off...so Deesha OUT!

"anything you give me today....."
