well what can i say?
HEEELLLLLO AUSTRALIA!!!! i am finally back from my trip to New Zealand and what can i say really? expect it was fuckn fantastic, i had an AMAZING time i cant wait to go back there really! so where shall i start? ... okay ill start at the beginning!

oh yeh and beware my grammer is horrible and shocking! Hehe … u have been warned!
Day 1 : Wednesday 19th, July
well day one started quite early , i woke up at 5am (i think) and did a last minute check of my bags making sure i had everything that was needed to have the uttmost incredible time in NZ, so by the time all this was done it was time for my mate to come pick me up and before u kno it we were on our way to the airport! which was very exciting!! as it was my first time out of Australia in another country ... well cept for the time that i went on a 10day cruise through the pacific ocean hehe .... so i was pretty stoked!!! so anyway we arrive at the airport meet our other friends go thru customs and head to duty free to look around while we wait for our flight!!!! at around 2:30NZ time i think we landed in Christchurch and waited for our friends on the 2nd flight to arrive , while we waited for them we had some lunch and went and picked up our rental car chucked our bags in there by the time we did this our friends had arrived!!!!
So..... our friends arrive in NZ we greet them , let them get settled abit with some food and head off to the car this now begins our 6-7hr drive to Queenstown!!! but firstly before leaving we mess around abit in Christchurch getting munchies for our journey and just relaxing abit !!! by the time we get on the road to Queenstown its about 5pm and getting quite dark!! so anyway our journey has just begun!!!!! and we're all fully loads with great music , snackss and supplies!!!! the drive was actually pretty fun we took quite alot of random photos , we got to drive thru rain, snow and on icy roads not to mention the eating of loads of New Zealand foods! which was quite tastey! hehe... we didnt see much in the dark during the ride but it was still pretty cool!!! the fact we saw nothing left our imagination open to what we will be seeing the next day anyway so it was a good surpise!
so anyway we arrived in Queenstown just after midnite, filled our tanks with petrol and went to go look for our accommodation in which we'd be staying for remainder of our trip!!! so we found our accommodation chucked our bags in there and then went into town to try to find food coz we were all starving!!! and low and behold close to 1am there was a Subway open!! funniest thing !!!!! there is a photo of all of us standing outside of it kinda signalling a wopeeee kinda thing.... everyone had happy facial expressions... well at least from what i rememebr! xd anyway we grab some food and head back to our flat all eagerly anticipating wot the next day will bring us!!!
Day 2: Thursday 20th July
We wake up only to find out that we overslept which didn’t surprise me seeing as we went to bed at like 2am hoping to wake up by 6am! Hehe … so here begins our adventure into the slopes of New Zealand! But first it starts off with a trip to the snow hire/rental place where we hired our gear for the trip…… soooooo after we got all our gear sorted we headed up to Cardrona . It was a long and windy drive up the mountains to this quite beautiful side of the mountain . Cardrona is located about 50min drive from Queenstown and has 3 quad lifts taking you to 3 different areas of the mountain! The great thing I liked about this place was the fact and well this goes for The Remarkables (another mountain we went to ) that there was only few lifts and hardly any queues so u could just ski into the lift queue and get on !! but I guess this was also due to the fact that we went when there was no school holidays !!! which was a great idea! , so yeh this was the day I had my first taste of New Zealand snow!!! And there was LOTS of it , fresh powder and great sunny days infact an amazing day for our first day at the snow!!! Incredibly beautiful!!! Before u ask me ,…. Yes I did stack it on the first day!!! I stacked it a few times when I was there! Hehe … my first stack actually occurred after seeing my friend stack it so I stopped BUT stopped in about knee deep powder and just kinda fell over had troubles getting back up but just laughed my ass off really! ….. that day I think we spent most of the time doing the runs over at Whitestar and a favorite of mine ‘the basin’ ….. we had quite a big day and departed the mountain just before 4pm, the joy of going away with people ur own age and with similar likes is the fact that u get to eat junkfood and pig out on take away and unhealthy food all the time …. Hehe … so yeh we got home….. I think on this day I actually posted a blog on myspace about it coz when we got back to our flat we had some drinks and got abit drunk! Xd well I did! Lol ….
Day 3: Friday 21st July
We awoke early this morning I believe it was around 6am! , stepped outside it was raining then about 1hr later it started snowing and after reading the Cardrona website we found that our destination for the day was closed so we all just chilled for the day and went back to bed! Slept til about 1:30pm and then we went out for some lunch which was good , wandered around Queenstown had some food at this steak house bistro in town that was totally deserted with small ass tables but this place was kinda cool, they had crazy mad mood lighting inside with cushioned artwork on the walls and played some cool tunes cept for the James Blunt shit! LoL … but yeh on the bottoms of tables they actually had a giant S under the table legs ,… the significance of this was that this place began with an ‘S’ so it was kinda cool branding I think….. so after this we headed around town again and checked out the information center places got some brochures for other ski mountains in the area and yeh…. Then headed back to our flat , me and a friend decided to go take some photos down by the lake behind our flats becoz it was quite a beautiful spot for photography actually and thought we could get some very nice shots in before sunset! ….. did some crazy cool pix and also spent some time skipping rocks which was cool considering I hadn’t done that in YEEEAAARRRSSSS!!! Hehe …
At this point in wiritng this blog entry excuse me but im getting abit bored with what to write becoz after day 3 it became quite repetitive and the posts for each day might become abit shorter but interesting things do start to happen again!
Day 4: Saturday, 22nd July 31, 2006
On Saturday when we woke up the weather was the first of 4crazy days of wind we would be having throughout this trip! Today we didn’t goto Cardrona we tried our luck at another mountain known as ‘The Remarkables’ … this mountain was abit closer than Cardrona and offered more difficult runs and lotsa more rocks! Lol …and was the first time and thankfully the only time we needed to put chains on the car! Luckily there was a nice person who showed us how it was done he helped us with one tire but when we tried the other it didn’t work as well! Luckily for the chain help tho eheh …. So we had our chains on and was heading for the mountain….. we arrived at the remarkables with enthusiasm tattoed on our faces and excitement ready to try our ski’s and boards at this new mountain that none of us had been to before. Okay so we get our lift passes and I stay with a friend who decided to go on ski’s for the first time after originally getting a snowboard I try to help him but I think im kinda a bad teacher so that ends shortly and I retreat to the mountain to go find my other friends who have been exploring the mountain!! So I find them and head up the Alta Chair lift then go up on another quad called the sugar bowl quad! This is when things become abit more interesting for all of us! We did a few runs on the sugar bowl quad and went down it about 3-4times before attempting to go a different way! So we are on this quad once again and decide to go down a run called Water Race then half way down I think we turn into another run called ‘ Fall Line’ this run was well kinda steep but nothing insanely steep ….. and there was quite abit of ice from what I remember so we’re like okay lets do it …. So we start heading down and before u know it I noticed my friend has stacked it … so I slow down and try to stop but I cant seem to and few seconds later I stack it and start rolling down the mountain loosing 1 ski that fell off while I stacked it …. Looking over at my friend who stacked it over some nasty looking rocks turns to me and goes FUCK im so lucky my face missed those rocks otherwise ski trip would have been over! So yeh after laughing at the fact we both stacked it and could have seriously hurt ourselves we decided to stop and have a drink yes that’s right … in the middle of a run on the side of the mountain! Hehe and of course had pix taken! At this point I had realized I hurt my thumb and thought it would be alright in a few hours! As I write this now my thumb still hurts! But its getting better! Xd hehe .. okay yeh anyway so we get back on our ski’s and start heading down the mountain again the thoughts running thru my mind are ‘ okay okay I just wanna get to the bottom’ so I start going down then I go okay I kno ill just race down to the bottom as quick as I can….BUT after not being able to see what type of terrain I was going down hit some ‘rough’ patches and kinda lost control falling, having BOTH ski’s released and rolling down the mountain like a ragdoll! As bad as this might sound the other stack was worse after coming to a complete stop I remember laying in the snow swearing my head off just laughing saying ‘oh my fucking lordy I cant fucking believe that just happened again’ and just laughed for a while! It was pretty funny stuff! But at this point I just wanted to go inside and get some food! After realizing how much my thumb hurt I decided id call It quits for that day on the slopes so I gave my pass to a friend to use . Then for the rest of the day I just took it easy brang my camera up and took some shots of the surrounding area which will be posted later this week! I also did a video diary thingy with my cam! Which is pretty funny! Heh but not really that funny ill post that aswell!!!!! I cant really remember how this day ended actually …. Ate more junkfood I suppose! Xd . Oh yeh friends went into town that night I stayed home coz I was feeling ill so I just caught up on some much needed sleep! Oh yeh at this point I was quite unsure of how id handle the next day seeing as I kinda crushed my confidence after stacking it twice in a row at the remarkables!
Day 5: Sunday 23th July
What can I say about this day really? Day 2 of evil wind !!! woke up … it looked alright outside but once we got up to the mountains (we went to cardrona) it was quite windy…. All of the fresh powder was being blown away which made it quite icy for everyone! For this day for me I remember taking my time after my double stack and thumb slam from yesterday and didn’t want a repeat of it ….. I don’t remember much from this day just that I went down a few steep blue runs which kinda got my confidence back! Which was good …. So yeh… we skied and once again ventured over to the pizzeria café for lunch …. I think that day we ended it early due to the winds or something…. But I don’t remember skiing too long that day or did we :O ? …. The truth of the matter is …. No one can remember! Xd but yeh we woulda finished off the day eating take away and watching tv and sleeeeeping! Oooooo yeeeehhhhh …..
Day 6: Monday 24th July 2006
Today I pray we get weather but as per usual ….. we don’t today I think is day 3 of evil wind! We went to Cardrona again today! I don’t remember much about this day…. I think during this period of our trip we weren’t getting up to the mountain until 10am but it was all good still enjoyed ourselves …I think this day was the day I lost one of my gloves im not sure but I think it may have been that day! Xd …. It was crazy windy and I think it blew off somewhere around near the car park! …. If that’s right then this day we picked up a hitch hiker aswell! She was a kiwi who kinda follows the snow seasons around …. She didn’t seem like she was going to slash our throats or anything! So it was cool! Xd
Day 7: Tuesday 25th July
I think today we woke up early because we wanted to get a full day of skiing in today and we were at Cardrona by 8:40am and got a parking spot right up the top which was great!!! We were all stoked about that! So that day we had a fullday of skiing 9am-4pm roughly had a blast from what I remember and it was abit windy today but not so much I think the wind had calmed down , today I pushed it and did some more steep blue runs and we did boarder X about a dozen times aswell which is a great run it lets u get LOADS of air over the jumps! And the banked turns are brilliant!!  *orgasms* …. From what I remember this day was quite a workout on our legs which was coooool I don’t think my legs have ever been in so much pain but good pain! did some mad runs today got back into a few of the steep runs aswell… lost my skiing buddy so I could try doing a few runs I had trouble doing before…. By the end of this day I was pretty excited about how much I had done which was great … I think overall Tuesday was quite a positive day !! I had loads of fun!! Did boarderX a lot of times and yeh!!! … okay I think that night we headed into queenstown as per usual and got a feed oh yeh I think rockstar supernova was onthat night aswell! Xd cant remember! Lol haha ….
Day 8: Wednesday 26th July
Today was a fantastical day!!! And we headed to The Remarkables! We got there after 9am thinking that we wouldn’t get the top parking spots but LUCKILY we did and there was hardly anyone there …. Oh yeh and today I snowboarded! I only stayed on the beginner slopes coz I didn’t wanna go up on a run I couldn’t get down…. So I boarded on the baby beginner slopes for a few hours got some turns in, found out how to stop , and how NOT to fall! Xd ….. and I also fell on my ass today and hurt it quite badly! But it was funny! Xd …. Had a go at the rope tow realized its much harder for a snowboarder to use a rope tow than it is for a skier! WAY HARDER! Especially if u loose ur balance !!! lol its way easier just to walk back up the slope! Lol… I don’t remember how this night ended tho …. But on the drive back down to the mountain we saw some hang gliders setup and glide off the side of the mountain which was pretty cool! I have video footage and photos of that! Oh yes…. Rockstar was on that night !!! I remember coz it was the eviction episode and yeh we waited late to go out to dinner coz of it … but yeh we went to this cool steak restaurant called Kellys or something along those lines… quite good relaxing night again….
Day 9: Thursday 27th July
Today was officially the last day we had skiing …. Out of the 6 of us who went there was unfortunately only 4 of us who ended up going today! 2 people piked out on us which was shame coz it was a great day of skiing! .. so in celebration of our final day on the slopes I decided to take my camera up on the mountains and got some fuckn fantastic landscape n scenery shots which will be linked shortly and yeh got some video footage of my mates snowboarding and skiing …. Got some pretty wicked shots as u will see shortly! And the video footage will be uploaded in a compilation clip of all the footage that I took that trip! The skiing on the last day was great tho there was loads of powder! And it was great seeing groomed runs with no tracks on them yet… hehe … and to cap off our day on the slopes we even got to have final runs before the lifts shut! Which was cool coz there was no one around !!! at this point tho we all knew that sadly our snow trip was about to come to an end ! it was a pretty goodbye!!!! Although it was incredibly enjoyed and loads of fun!!! And have loads of video and photos to show this…. Hmm I think im repeating myself! Lol … ok by this time we were all excited about going on the shotover jet tomorrow morning!
Day 10: Friday 28th July
Our last day in Queenstown …. Oh what a sad day but overall quite enjoyable we started our day off as per usual waking up and eating breakfast? Duh? Right ? what else ey … haha it was cool tho we had a booking for the ShotOver Jet at 10am which is ‘the most exciting jetboat ride in the world’ . It was exciting but it wasn’t scary as I thought it was going to be! It was hella cold tho!! I recommend anyone who goes on this to take a turtle neck coz u will need it! Xd ur face will freeeeze and so will ur ears!!!!! This boat ride was cool coz u got to jet thru canyons close to rock edges doing power slides and 360s …. It was crazy fun! So after this our journey back to Christchurch started this time we got to drive in the daytime which was a change and we got to see the scenery and also had some dvds to watch on the way back! Xd which was funny! We arrived back in Christchurch at just after 5pm then went to our accommodation for the night ….. then found out what time we’d have to be up which was at 3am … I just laughed out loud! Our flight was at 5:30am so we were at the airport around 4am …. So yeh …. We successfully got on our flight had a pretty cool Flight Crew (Virgin Blue) they were funny well amusing … and we arrived back in Sydney at 7:30am Saturday!!!
Conclusion
HAD A FUCKING FANTASTIC TIME CANT WAIT TO GO AGAIN

yes!! when u snowboard try not to fall directly on ur ass try to land on ur hands! otherwise if u land smack bang on ur ass it will hurt ALOT !!! hehe |

there is video footage of me skiing ..... but none of me snowboarding! hehe i have video footage of my friends snowboarding and falling tho! its kinda cool.... im not sure if there is video footage of me falling i cant remember! later this week ill be getting the rest of the photos .... there is about another 2000 photos i will be getting off my friends thsi week sometime and about 20 videos or so! xd .... hehe and i need to get the rest of my photos and videos off my mates laptop! |
