Deary me, just when I was about to got to bed I find some more information - good news for Jay though - he wasn't charged...
Jay Kay cautioned after club clash
Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay has been cautioned for common assault after an incident outside a nightclub.
The pop star was held by police after an apparent clash with photographers early on Tuesday.
London's Evening Standard newspaper quoted witnesses who said they saw Kay lash out after leaving Kabaret's Prophecy in Soho with a friend in the early hours.
According to the newspaper, he slapped one photographer and punched another, then rounded on police with a volley of abuse.
The 36-year-old appeared convinced that photographers were waiting for him when in fact they were hoping for a glimpse of actress Lindsay Lohan, who was also inside, it added.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "At approximately 2am this morning an officer on routine patrol in Upper John Street was alerted to a large crowd of people, including photographers, outside a night club.
"A man approached the officer and alleged he had been assaulted at the scene. He did not require hospital treatment. There are no further details about injuries.
"A man believed to be in his 30s was arrested in connection with the allegation and he has been taken to a central London police station where he remains in custody."
She added later: "The man who is in his 30s was given a caution for common assault and he has been released with no further action."

Come on... the guy's a little hotheaded and alcohol brought out the worst in him. So what? I admit violence isn't good and should be avoided in most cases. I say most cases instead of at all times because sometimes I think violence is justified. I'm not saying it's justified in this case because I don't know the details. I just know Jay were throwing punches. The pictures doesn't look very good... but what if the paps started it? Was Jay supposed to run off like a mouse (no offence Meike, lol) or just stand there and take a beating? I would defend myself, that's for sure.
Verbal abuse and stalking (that's exactly what these people have made into a lucrative business) can very well be reason enough for someone to defend themselves by force. At least when it's too much of everything. Who is to decide when it's "too much"? Jay of course! When "not now please", "come back another day" and "some other time please" doesn't help for the umpteenth time it's quite possible that the fists will do the talking in a language they hopefully will understand.
What would you do if you were unable to live life without being followed by sensation-seeeking bastards trying to provoke you into causing a scandal they can make into "news of the day"? Day in, day out... for months, for years. Would you be able to cope with it better?
To err is human, to forgive divine.

Inaki,
I do admire the music Jay makes, and accidents like this will never change this thing.
BUT: please don`t want me to undertand and accept his violent behaviour. U remember the lyrics of WIIIJCS? "Maybe I`m a street kid?" Yes, he`s still that street kid inside as he was 20 years before when fighting was a part of his life (ok, to stay alive). Through the music he made he earned a huge amount of money, but his personality stayed the same. We always knew that he was a personality hard to handle, and it`s only getting worse when he drinks. When you`re a celebrity, you need to take responsibility for your behaviour as a person in the spotlight, you shouldn`t act like this. OK, paparazzis make his life harder, but jesus, how many parties he had without them? I believe it would be hard to count...
He`s a rich man, having millions of fans around the world, so he can have a fabulous life, and what is on the other hand, paparazzis???
He definetly needs a woman beside him and a child, that`s the only thing that could change him...

this is off topic, but i know plenty of people that do hit the streets when people are waiting at home.
when your mind state isn't right, you don't think straight.
it's all good. like i said, water underneath the bridge and the man is grown...his business, not mine.
work it out jay. _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

watch the news!
a TV source tells me there is video of the event, and that Jay was completely unprovoked. Photographers were at the club for Lindsay Lohan, and had no idea that Jay was there, but that he completely lost control when he emerged. This is kind of believable when you look at this previous clip...
