Ha! imagine a steering wheel hat! although, i suppose if you can write a song about your car then a hat isn't that big a deal!
Goat = 1969 (year of the goat) plus goats clear the grass don't they???
I like the rocky edge to the song, i'm crap at saying "i like that guitar bit" or that "drum bit". So unable to comment on that.
Ohhhh we have loop on in my house now --- the kids are singing along and there's some head banging dancing going on -- we'll all have to abandon our funky dances and start dancing like status quo fans?! |

Hahaha!! Can you believe how great fans we are?? We are going crazy and dancing and talking about only 28 seconds of one song! Haha, I guess we have to wait, one rocky track in the album is ok to me, but I hope the entire album is not.
(ha, I am listening that little bit over and over again -I put repeat-)
PS: How are you Ms P? |

Diego, we are the greatest fans in the world .
I have had to take mine off loop, my children have become annoyed - "if it weren't for those darn kids i'd have got away with it".... |

Loop Loop Loop Loopy!!!
Hello again, :bm_r:
Do fans think alike or what ! I immediately looped the 30 second clip too after maybe the 4th listening...and you guys are right, sounds great (Is it just me, or do you guys also hear a light bit of "Laughter" around the 14 to 15 second point of the 30 second clip?) ! I have a question, do you guys think I should post my individual lyrics for "Black Devil Car" as a separate topic that were in my first post in this topic? I'm also looking forward to hearing the rest of this "Live Soul Educationish" new song, very very promising and does in my book touchs the old sound with the heavy Wulitzer keys on it, good to finally hear it on a Jamiroquai song ! Yeah, I do think the "Rock My Socks" rock chorus takes a little time to swallow, but I think it really compliments the early part very well. Thanks for listening and the Countdown for the 6th Album Begins NOW!!!! Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000
P.S. I can imagine Mouse & Bear in the car speeding down the road bopping out to "Black Devil Car", then I come up tearing up in my Chevy Cavalier and drive up next to them and drive along side of them in my "Champagne Colored Car"! Hehe!
P.P.S. Congrats on your 700th post on JamiroTalk.net , you continue to amaze us JamiroTalk.net users with your knowledge and advice ! _________________

Yep, you're right. I heard the same thing after my 12th listening. |

Matt Johnson sounds fantastic in this clip on the keys. Hopefully, he'll be on top form for the rest of the album when it comes out. I also did hear Alex Meadows on bass a little, and even though I think he got held back a little bit, he sounds good as well.
All in all, a quirky, fantastic sample. And as for us getting all crazy over 28 seconds of one song...well, we have been waiting for three years. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. Yep, this song really rocks!
At first I though it was too rocky, but I´d put the song in the FUNK-ROCK group (2001, the version of Soul education you were talking´bout...)
Remember that it is recorded from the studio, so we are hearing the sound that all the guys are hearing in the video (in mono, nor in stereo, and with all theses interferences like the laughs, etc.), nor the exactly version we´re going to find on CD (so the quality is lower than the one we´re gonna listen to).
And I also see the song as one of the first singles. |

@Diego
I don't think it sounds like Twenty Zero one, but a the chorus has a stop-don't panic similar guitar! (ookay, a little 20-0-1 then )
@CosmicMouse
I hear dit on my MD player and I could not hear the bass before too.
but on earphones the bass grooves
I love this tune! it's so 'crazy'
And I don't think it's "overproduced".
Jays voice still sounds natural. a funk odyssey might be overproduced, but I like the sound of it... although I mostly prefer natural sounds |

(I didnt read all the posts so maybe I sa something that already has been said...) Interesting clip! Though I am a bit worried that the whole album will be more rockier, cos of Mr. Rob's influences, which I think is a shame to be honest. I do really wonder what this will sound like with the horns over it and all. And that bass...well it's not really 'Zendery' (new term? lol) and it's not a Warwick either (I reckon it must be a Fender Jazz bass or Musicman Stingray, well anyway...) but its not bad. He gets more room on the track than Nick got on his first album.
About that video on funkin.com did y'all see that? I wonder who these guys in the back were! Well the bald guy must be Al Stone but this other dude...probably a producer/sound technician too, but who knows? Maybe its Alex? (Actually we still don't know for a 100% sure that the new bassplayer is actually this Alex Meadows guy...) Well enough blabla from me now _________________ The name's Rob, just Rob |

Cosmicmouse you're right, after listening to the sample again, I must've had an earwax buildup last night. Definately not horns... My bad. |

I tried harder to understand the lyrics and I don't know if I'm wrong but at second 7 I hear "I put my hands to Mr. Meadows. Can't you see me..."
What do you mean??
