Samples...
I bought a CD called "Sant Germain Des Pres Cafe" [compilation] yesterday. When I played track 11, which is called "Mr. Dope" [Laughing], I heard the same sample D-Zire used in the intro to TYTD in Firenze '93. You know - that "Hey!". Can someone tell me from what song it is?

Also, let's try to list as many songs that were sampled both live and on album by D-Zire, right here, in this topic.

I don't know which song that "hey" sample is taken from. But perhaps you can ask Kenny Dope Gonzalez (one half of MAW) himself... I'm pretty sure he maintains his own MySpace page (http://myspace.com/kennydope). Hopefully he'll reply. Wink

that "hey" it's from a track called heartquacke" by prince.
i always loved the work of dj dzire with jamiroquai and always searched for the samples he uses.
i've found lot of them, theres info about this in the "tune stories" thread, but i guess you have to search on it, as there spread over the post, not in a particular post of dzire

p.s. i remember doing a file with a list of samples and it's origins, but i don't know if i still have it

true! thanks for the info

i mixed the sample
in that james brown you can hear clearly the "hey" and "listen to the man" used in tytd.
and also the "funky town"(or down?!) used by dzire on headhunters cover god made me funky, and the next word of the track to (nasty? maybe?) wich is used by dj dzire also live, but now i won't say again wich track because i also would mix...(maybe too young to die too?)

the sample from prince's song is used in live versions of slipin' n' slidin' and any other track now, again, i don't remember.

p.s. i will research the live songs and put the correct info here for sure! Wink

It's 'God Make Me Funky'! I know they got it wrong on the liner to the bootleg but I don't get why people still carry on perpetuating the mistake... that one little letter makes the meaning of the song lyrics totally different!

Two that instantly come to me are:

Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force - Planet Rock
"Party people... party people... y'all gon' get funky!"
(that could itself be a sample in that track though... not sure)

Eric B. & Rakim - Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em
"cut like a lumberjack..." etc
