My point of view is that their best performance era (in a strict musical sense) was TROTSC era. I love the way Jamiroquai mix horns, bass, guitar and percussion in a successful undergarment of acid jazz and funk. Some of their best bootlegs (jazziroquai, live in Wolverhampton) belong to this era. However, in a more 'visual' or 'show time' sense, I think AFO era was amazing. In my opinion, less instrumental quality but more visual, 'feel good', electro-funk personality. Both are so different, but both are so catchy (to me). Maybe that's because those are my 2 favourite albums. |

Hey dont forget Dj-Dzire, the one i love hearing most, and thats why i love jamiroquai cause they mix so much together and still hold it to be perfect! |

There were some fantastic flourishes in the early days, but I think the band's best live performances came in the TWM era. You don't get much better that THAT. Everything from Jay to Stu and the rest was on point. In my eyes, the AFO era was the closest they've ever gotten to the quality of 96-97...
JMQ was fantastic when I saw them in 2005, but I think that the Dynamite era wasn't very good overall. To my ears, it was more 'workmanlike,' like they actually had to fight to create the grooves. More often then not, they won, but comparing them to the live shows of earlier eras, it sounded like something was missing. With that in mind, I'm glad the HTSingles era is bringing back the horns and strings; they've really helped out lately.

Personally, of the 'eras' I've seen them in live, my favourite is how they're playing right now, with the horn section back and a proper bassist (I've seen each of the UK tours from Synkronized on, Lovebox last year and Mean Fiddler a couple of weeks ago). The return to the touch of old-school with the horns is long overdue, and seeing Paul, who actually plays bass, as opposed to Nick, who didn't, is brilliant.

Sam, are you really sure you want funky undergarment? With or without skidmarks? Yellow stains in front? I'm not going to Google up a picture and post it here. But I must admit this stuff brought out the 5 year old kid in me.

Well... OK then. Maybe just the acid jazz ones. That's as long as the material they're made from isn't actually acidic, of course. Acidic pants... that could be painful!

Hey Sam, yeah I mean horns, brass, or "metals" as we say here in Brasil, and no I haven't. I'm a little away from Jami music nowadays, but I think I may begin to hit my head on the wall for that!! How can I have missed that?? Thanks for opening my eyes, ears, mind, whatever, hahaha.
And as for the eras, I really love TROTSC live performances. Those wonderful instrumental 15 min songs. WOW!! They could do at least 1 instrumental music on their next album. That's my next hope, as my last one seems fulfilled.  |

Old? They're just in their mid 30's to mid 40's ffs. It's nothing! Providing a musician have good health he/she could be groovin' til the day they set foot in the grave. Age has nothing to do with it.

Too right, music keeps you young. My dad is 85 and still gigs, sometimes more than me. He has been playing since he was a child and music is something that is part of him. He has always said to me he will stop when he cant play any more, rather than "its time to stop now"
However, not sure seeing Jamiroquai in their 80's will quite have the same effect.
If the guy's love music, which we know they do, they will not stop and to be honest a year out is a long time, I recon they will be back earlier. |

And we are in our 80´s  and some of us will reach the front row a littel bit slower than today,cause they will lean on crutchs or will be Helldrivers in a wheelchair. And we can´t sing,cause we have forget our dentition and we can´t dance,cause our synthetic hip joint hurts. 
And I´m sure,that Jay will be have more wrinkles as we all together.
