I think everybody on Earth knows him and I will never forget him in the blues brothers..RIP Mr. Brown your energy, passion and love for music will not get waisted!

I don't think it's sad. The man's had quite a life... and let's face it, he's not always been a good guy. However, his music keeps me moving my feet, hips and whatnot! And that sort of thing is a great thing to leave behind. |

R.I.P. James Brown
When I was first playing bass, I learned the funk from James Brown.
He has influenced sooooo many people and sooooo much music.
You can hear it in Jay's music for sure..
and if you remember they shared the stage at Woodstock '99 too!
(I have that recording of Sex Machine, it goes off!) 10min long
--------------------------------
and there have been so many musicians to come out of his band too!
Fred Wesley - Trombone - guest in the GreyBoyAllStars
Bootsie Collins - Bass - Funkadelic
Maceo Parker - Saxophone - Solo artist now
-------------------
I saw Maceo when I was living in Arcata, and he goes off! If you ever get a chance to see him, he's da man!

The guy is a legend,
I can't believe how sudden it was though, he's been touring alot this year. Maybe it took it out of him. I'm just thankful for the legacy of funky music that we have to remember him by.
Peace |

DJ Gilles Peterson did a nice James Brown special on his show about 2 weeks ago. You can hear it here:
http://www.giantstep.net/jukebox/
Scroll down and you will see it listed first..Click on the 'listen' tab and the GS jukebox should pop up.
Enjoy, Dee _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |
