okay...
this is a question that arose at work today...
Do you feel as a woman Jamiroquai fan it's difficult to get yourself recognised for your love of the music rather than being a Jayophile?

I need to put in my two cents on this one. I think that there is an assumption made by fans and even some band members (in all bands, not just Jami) that all attractive women that go to a concert are groupies who want to sleep with the band members. I think as women we have every right to feel beautiful and sexy, regardless of what other people think.
It would not surprise me if people do see us female fans as groupies just because we might wear a revealing top to a concert, dance and scream or because we are willing to travel long distances and make long lines in order to see our favorite band perform. We can't control what other people think or how we perceived. We are lucky that at least we know that the Jamily and members of the band give us the respect we deserve, whether we are good looking or not. The body guard, he is just a jerk
Ok, maybe I went a bit off topic here... oops!
Much love to all!

Ok, I love Jamiroquai's music above everything else. But... I do like Jay, I can drool for hours, and??? Let the world think whatever they want about jamirowomen.
The wikipedia article about "groupie" also says:
| Quote: |
| Perhaps the best-known work dealing with groupies is the 2000 Cameron Crowe movie, Almost Famous (although the groupie characters insist that they are, instead, "Band Aides"). Groupie is defined in that movie as follows: "Groupies sleep with rock stars because they want to be near somebody famous." Later, a character, looking at some groupies, says: "They don't even know what it is to be a fan. You know, to truly love some silly little piece of music, or some band, so much that it hurts." |
So, am I a groupie or a fan?? Definetely a fan, I love the music so much that it hurts...
I'm a Jamiroquai fan, that just coincidentally happens to like Jay.

Great topic, I'm wondering why I never sow it !!!!
yes i't hard! even my boyfriend toke a lot of time to understand that I don't leasten to JMQ music 'cause secretly I wanna jump on Jay!!!!!
My answer was:" love, if I would need a gourgeous man...I would transfer to Sweden!" (Jonas don't read plz)
so after this kind answer he decide not to questioning anymore and probably his ego had a stoke
but while I was @ Jazz Cafè gig I had this problem: I was getting mad x (for) the hot and was tempted to take off my shirt but under that I had a very sexy top and I didn't want Jay to think I was..you know...being sexy x (for) him, so I spent half of the concert stressing Fra wondering what to do not to die x(for) the temperature! ( call me mindfucker if you want )
so at a certain point she told me not to be idiot and to take the shirt off that nothing was happening!!!!! profetic words!!
As soon as I removed the shirt Jay came in front of me and made the face "hey great moove girl" wiht that certain smile!
so I went like "oh my God! he is thinking esactly what I would never never want him to think!" so...end of the story I putted the shirt on and close it from bottom to top!
It's allready ugly that other fans and ppl believe we follow them x (for)him...but the idea that he could think that was too much x (for) me!!
so to answer to Janice question yes it's damned difficult!!!!

i liked the story but thank god someone explained the x. i thought i was being thick.
anyway all i can say is i didn't have a clue what jay looked like when i bought my first cd circa 95ish. when he hit 34/35 i was like *rawr* i didn't go *rawr* so much in the early years. oh and i really hate the screamers at gigs who try to kill you to get at the front. or the ones that wear next to no clothes and smell of cheap perfume. you can spot a groupie a mile off. _________________ olay! |
