JC Bentley is the nuts!
What a voice! And working with the Jamiroquai boys can only enhance that in my opinion. The UK doesn't have many powerful vocalists. Beverley Knight can sing but the material isn't great, Terri Walker is excellent but unappriciated, but JC has a voice which I believe will crossover to the mainstream with easy.
If the rest of the album is going to be soulful and funky as it sounds like it is going to be then from a Jamiroquai fan perspective its going to be all good! |

Firstly thanks for your emails asking how things are going with the album.
I just got back from my latest US trip during which we recorded 5 songs. I can now confirm that Brenda Russell has written a beautiful song for me which we recorded & it's an honour to be working with her. When I first heard 'Get Here' I knew she would be a great writer for me & this song really is me! Brenda is so talented & such a lovely person. I also now have 2 songs written by Karyn White who became known for her hit 'Superwoman' of which the album went 4 times platinum! These 2 songs are just out of this world & I have Steve Harvey to thank for this collab & helping me to really find myself as an artist. I have never sang songs like these that suit me the way they do!
I wrote a 'Lately' style ballad with Steve Harvey who is producing the album and we travel to another part of LA Dec 11th to record the orchestra session for 5 of the songs which includes 32 live string players, I can't wait!! Again I owe a huge thanks to Steve for pulling in Ben Wright to do this, he is currently in the studio with Gladys Knight & has also provided orchestral arrangements for Justin Timberlake amongst others so we're in good company!
On this trip I worked with Wayne Linsey who has been MD for Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder & Whitney Houston. He blew me away....can he play?!!!! For those of you on myspace, you can see him in my top friends & he has a video of a TV appearance where he played for Mary J Blige along with Stevie shows. Wayne also now has a writing credit on the album with a song he wrote with Gavin Christopher & Steve Harvey....great song & I am thrilled about it!
I have also been working with Leon Ware and there are new pics up at myspace. We filmed everything for the documentary of the making of the album and once edited, we'll get it up on the site www.jcbentley.com which right now is being re-vamped so please be patient!
As most of you know I am in the process of a brand new track with Omar for the album & also a track with Take 6 which I am writing with Claude McKnight (the group's founder member) Take 6 have been nominated for 18 Grammy's to date, 10 of which they have won & it's the hugest honour they want to be a part of my work!
I hope I am building a picture here of an album which you will be looking forward to! Great songs, great production & the highest quality musicians & artists in the world! I am working so hard because when this album drops I want you all to be pleasantly surprised & get as much joy from listening to it as we did recording it. Just knowing that you all get enjoyment from what I am doing is what makes the hard work worth it...you're the reason we do this because it's in giving that we receive!
Stay in touch & thanks again for all the support I really cannot express how grateful I am & it's a pleasure to be sharing my dream with so many people! Thank you all so so so so much & I look forward to seeing you all when we get on the road to perform this album live!!
