A classic! Oh the memories of the early 90's.
If I recall correctly it was Fred (Fairbrass) who once said "My buttocks are so fit and firm that I can pick up a penny from the ground with my buttcheeks" or something similar. I think it was in a MTV interview.
I'm not going to recommend a specific song. I'm going to recommend a specific artist... Salem Al Fakir from Sweden. This guy plays all the instruments on his album except for the horns, which are played by his brother. His voice may sound a bit odd and quirky to some. But he's a musical genious. It's soul with an old school vibe I guess. But when listening it reminds me of many different things from the 60's and 70's... Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, David Bowie, EWF to mention a few. Anyway, it's very interesting and I think this guy has the potential to make it... even outside Sweden since he's singing in English.

I've been hooked on Eric Clapton's "Unplugged" album for the last two weeks... I remember seeing the concert on tv as a kid and later listening to a copy of it on an audio cassette. I really enjoy each and every song on it, brilliant.
As for song recommendation, let me pick one song from this album; Old Love.
Obviously, first reason for choosing this is 'cos it a really well written and performed song. Second reason are the lyrics...argh! Let's say I can relate... :/ and I actually don't want them to. (luckily it's followed by a great upbeat blues song) _________________ The name's Rob, just Rob |

The Super-Phonics!
What about Bluey Maunick, Nick Van Gelder, Simon Bartholomew, Jan Kincaid, Gary Crockett, Snowboy and many more?
Funky disco laden grooves from the crème de la crème of UK's acid jazz and funk scene. Soulful vocals by Lucy Jules and Imaani.
The album 'Interstellar' is wicked (Japanese release only). Check out the band at http://www.super-phonics.com/.
If you think you'd like a mix of the old BNH, Incognito, Snowboy and... well, simply a mix of disco, funk and latin grooves with a soulful touch of house... you won't be disappointed.
Why not head over to their MySpace page and get acquainted... http://www.myspace.com/thesuperphonics
Start with 'Party', it's guaranteed to bring you into a good mood. _________________ Old school forever! |
