Would 'Black Devil Car' make a good 1st single? (POLL)
Hello, :bm_r:
I have been contemplating the now infamous 30 second sample of the new Jam song "Black Devil Car", and wondering, "Would it make a good 1st single from the 6th album?" Well, in my opinion, I don't think it would be a wise pick for a new song to be the diving board for the upcoming 6th Jamiroquai album. What do you think about it? Please leave your thoughts about this and vote in the poll above. Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

Hello Jamirotalkers,
Well, I voted for the second choice. I think nobody can judge 30 seconds of a song is not even finished (like Jay said a couple of days ago), from a track that could be 5 or 6 minutes long, who knows. I think it is not fair.

No. It´s not a song that defines the band style and too poppy for being remembered for anybody out of the fan community.
I´ve heard only 30 seconds of the song, and I enjoy it, but I don´t think it´s goin to be a "big hit of the year" |

It's a solid song, but to me it's not an anchor "hit-maker" of the album. It's not the worst song you could release as a single, but I bet they have something better in store for that. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

It's hard to comment on this because:
a) As you mentioned, it's only a 30 second sample.
b) There is little to compare it to, it might be the best song on the album, it might be the worst.
c) Jay said the song is unfinished, which could mean it sounds nothing like the 30 second sample version anymore by the time it is complete.
I don't thin it will be the first single personally, because the mixing with Roger Sanchez for the first single would have already taken place at the time Jay said 'BDC' wasn't finished yet. _________________

That makes two of us!!!
You can't judge or rate a song from a 30 second sample Also until we know what the other new material sounds like, how can we judge whether BDC will be the best or worse choice for a first single? |

Thanks!
(That link just didn´t work when I tried yesterday)
I just listed to it a couple of times. Sounds good. But there should be a third option:
"No, there will be better songs on the album" |

I voted for the second option
Yeah, i think that 30 seconds is nothing to talk... I think this song is too rocky and i don't like it... If it were like Cosmic Girl or Soul Education, or the same Love Foolosophy, or maybe one like Shoot the Moon... who knows???? Maybe the other parts of the song are jazzy, remember the soul education of the Montreux Jazz Festival 2003.... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

Yea, I don't know if that would be a good 1st single. There isn't anything to compare it to yet. I do like the sample a lot, but only the first 22 seconds, then it gets to rock-y for me. But who knows, hopefully the rest of the song is just as kick ass as the first 22 seconds. _________________ This is our corner of the Earth |
