*Here's a repost from the original thread, upon suggestion from Meike*
Hello,
Work continues to be long and heavy for me, so please forgive me for not being on here in "postform" as I am usually am . Anyway, in those spare moments of free time I have had, I have discovered a plethora of new acts, whom have their debuts coming out in 2007, that I thought I would highlight. Here they are and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have:
* JAMIROFAN'S MOST PROMISING NEW ACTS OF 2007*
The Softlightes - Debut Album "So No To Being Cool"
DESCRIPTION: Very infectious Calfornian indie rock, riddled with alot of smooth "Radiohead" techno sensibilities.
MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/softlightes
KEY TRACKS: Wall Of Sound & The Microwave Song
The View - Debut Album "Hats Off To The Buskers"
DESCRIPTION: More "Arctic Monkeys like" vibes off his rockish band from Dundee, Scotland. More "Charlatanish swagger rock" with a smooth exterior melange of "Love Hate Love" and "Karma Police". My choice pick from the "Next Big Thing"!
MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/dryburgh
KEY TRACKS: Gloria, Wasted Little DJs & Same Jeans
DESCRIPTION: Another heavy helping of "Northern English Rustic Indie Rock", somewhere between the bogs of "The Mystery Jets" and the firm cleft chin of "Richard Ashcroft". Another massive Fav of mine!
MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/larrikinlove
KEY TRACKS: Happy As Annie, Edwould & Downing Street Kindling
The Colour - Debut Album "Between Earth & Sky"
DESCRIPTION: AMAZING mixture of American bluesy rock and southern rock! Like a cross between the guitar angst of "The Black Keys" and the 'Don't Give A Fuck' style of "The Diamond Nights"! DON'T MISS THIS!
MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/thecolour
KEY TRACKS: Devil's Got A Hold Of Me, Kill The Lights & Save Yourself
The Ponys - New Debut Album "Turn The Lights Out"
DESCRIPTION: A Chicago art-rock group, newly signed on the Matador Indie Record labels, their debut album is littered "Nick Cave" guitars and twangy "Iggy Pop & The Stooges" basswork. Very interesting and dank art rock that makes you want to trash a museum!
WEBSITE: http://www.matadorrecords.com/the_ponys/ &
http://www.myspace.com/theponys
KEY TRACKS: Double Vision, Little Friends & Burn In Hell
BAND: Vietnam - Self Titled Album
DESCRIPTION: When I first heard their initial EP back in 2004, I didn't know what to make to their twinky offkey guitars, "Jim Morrisonlike freeform lyrics", and blatant disregards for musical rhythm. But with this debut, which the fought skin and tooth to get recorded, their mixture of early 1970s psychedelic rock and blues is a potent yet old source of inspiration for those music fans REALLY looking for something that is really anomaly of new music.
MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/vietnamtheband
KEY TRACKS: Hotel Riverview & The Priest & The Pig
BAND: Radio Moscow - Self-Titled Debut Album
DESCRIPTION: I would think this is the first real 'Besides Wolfmother' type of new band I have heard, but they are verging a little into the "Black Keys" direction. Their indie debut is a luscious mixture of the arcane freeform guitars of the beforementioned 'Wolfmother", the bleeding souls of the "Black Keys" & a smidgen of the warbles of the young Jack White of the "White Stripes", but you have imagine REAL hard to hear Jack! Excellent debut!
MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/radiomoscow
KEY TRACKS: Frustrating Sound, Mistreating Queen & Timebomb
There you go, pretty much new music for all generalized musical tastes, enjoy and will add more info about other new acts as I find them! Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,

I just heard Elliot Yamin's new song, 'Moving On' and I can't wait for his whole album. He was an American Idol contestant last season and he was so, so dope. I'm happy he didn't win, because he wouldn't be making music like this...Have a listen to his new single here:
http://top40.about.com/b/a/208885.htm
I loooooooooooooove it! It's coming out at the right time, as spring hits - it has that spring feel!

| 4Hero is already released innit? I got a full length promo CD album and it's wicked. Better than 'Creating Patterns' but perhaps not up to par with CD1 of Two Pages imho. I will definitely buy the original CD for my collection later. I've been looking forward to this album with great anticipation and I'm not disappointed... lovin' it! |
JONAS!
You were so right with this ill review...Play With the Changes is amazing. I haven't stopped listening to it yet. 17 tracks for only 10 bucks too!
"Look Inside" has to be my favorite so far, and I didn't realize how many Philly vocalists were on the album. I had been looking for some theme music for the year also...something different, refreshing, all year around spring like vibe - and found it. This release came at the perfect time for me.
I send them a friend request and they came through my myspace and put a nice comment too, so they are also cool guys.
Anyway, money well well spent, and I don't have Two Pages, but I will get it asap.

^agree, I've been playing 4hero non stop!
This album is coming out tomorrow:
e.s.t. (esbjörn svensson trio) - tuesday wonderland
I really dig this instrumental group. They fuse jazz with electronica (a genre I usually can't stand). They are mellow at time, energized at others.
The song I really like from this album is called 'Goldwrap'. You can listen to it here and learn more about them. Scroll down and click on 'Goldwrap', the jukebox should come up playing the song. The piano arrangement is just beautiful:

Although some choose not to listen, NIN is streaming their album for free online...I honestly forget the link at the moment, but if you google it, it should come up.
Think I saw it on Blabbermouth.net a few days ago.
*edit* - here is the link: http://yearzero.nin.com/

What a great year for music...
Just found out Incognito is releasing a new 12 inch . I didn't see this posted, so here you go:
http://www.soussolrecords.com/
Apr 2007 - a real 12" treat from UK acid jazz legends INCOGNITO with a well crafted cover version of "Zaius" originally penned by 70's jazz-funkster Eddie Russ. Check this one out for remixes from the Rhythm Slaves, Kid Massive and the very talented DJ/producer Ski Oakenfull.
