ahaha jan, i luv u so much! Razz
im feelin so good when i read ur review.
well, my turn now.
I try to be the more detailed i can but its so difficult: memories r still fighting into my mind!
In the morning of the 6th i had to catch the train for Rome: 7 hours more or less to arrive in rome . Excitement was reaching high levels, i didn't think in the last weeks to allow another gig, especially in the UK and above all coz me and the girls came over london at the end of january, u know: i had no money and i was worried about the tickets but thx to my mum ( as jan said: mums r the ones who best support this jamiromadness which s getting more and more insane) i was able to book the flight, the hotel and so on...
Once in Rome i met alessia, i slept in her house andddd God bless her parents! they r sooo nice and kind: they still have to well understand our passion for JMQ! But it's always ok! At least for her dad:" Francesca, drink some glasses of red wine and everything will always be good!" Lol
So i did! I was drunk! thx daddy! BUTTTT it helped me a lot to stay relaxed and not so nervous!
The day after we woke up at 4.00 a.m. for reachin the airport and takin the plane. Flight s been excellent: i tried to sleep during the trip coz i knew that the journey we were goin to live would have been HARD! very hard. We landed at 8.00 and then we reached Victoria where we met janluka, Luca and Figo Gianluca waiting for us.
Vere reached us ( she left from turin) in the early hours of the afternoon and its been a so huge pleasure to stay again all together.
The first persons we met were jan and russ: me and alessia were walking along La Scala for takin a look about the whole situation and its been fantastic to see jan and to meet for the first time Russ! ( I thought u were taller! Wink ) im kidding!!!
Then I meet Jonas! Finally, i was waiting for this and i repeat : he's so a wonderful person, so kind and sweet: it was so strange to talk and i was so happy when he gave me a multiquai banner he took the day before! U ve seen it @ my picture with me.
Hours went down slowly: me, vere and ale had the chance to stay and drink something with derrick and rob. It's not necessary to say how wonderful they r, really. They r LOVELY persons on earth: we spoke a bit about the gig in the sky , the myspace thing ( " u r a very popoular lady"!), music in general, london and so on.
When doors opened i was still nervous, it was so cold! and i had not the security to get in but at the end we made it. I was so happy to say hello to tania (Matt's wife): she's so beautiful and a very fascinating woman, always smilin Smile
Once inside, the gig was goin to start: we reached our friends , i think alessia phoned me 45 times , she was worried about us but at the end so happy to see us with them!
The concert started: all the emotions were goin to reach the sky! Incredible, really. Another time. Music, smiles, love, energy.
The boyz performed in a very excellent way: paul s been fantastic!!!
JK was in a very good mood! it so great to see them put all that positive energy when they play!
listenin live to radio s been a big surprise! I luv this song, now more than never! After the gig, me and the italian girls have had the chance to say hello to jk and get in the vip area.
Well, that's it: we came back to the hotel and my head was running so fast. Id like to thank all the persons who were there for makin this event so special! Unforgettable!

I am loving all the reviews and photos. The picture of Piero and David is one of my favorites..Such a good photo, as well as the one of Jonas and Jay.

Heart Jonas - your review was so thorough. Claudia and I were talking about you winning this prize and we both said how much you deserved this not only because you are such a devoted fan, but good father and husband. Although you were ill, I'm happy you enjoyed the *high times*.

Thanks everyone again for all the playback...

Thank you for all the kind comments so far. Smile

This is the second part of my story.

Continued from part one...

Wednesday 7th March

The Italian crew and I had been away for a little while. And when we returned from Argyle Square to the queue we noticed that the security had erected the barriers. Janluka, Alessia and Luca jumped the barriers and took place near Russ, Jan, Nicki and Andy. Then Russ said their queue was the wrong one for us anyway, it was the queue for those who were supposed to pick up their tickets. So instead of jumping the fence I took place in the line for VIP and people with tickets already. I was actually number 3 in the queue now. In front of me were two blonde girls and they were talking to Jan. A security guy tapped my back and said something like "this is the VIP/ticket queue you know" and I just said "of course" and waved my colourful ticket in his face. I guess he didn't think the scruffy looking bloke in a hemp shirt and beanie could possibly have a ticket. I remember seeing Francesca and Gianluca outside the barriers talking to the others. I felt so sorry for them. But something inside me told me that they would be allowed inside so I actually didn't worry that much about it. I was very excited, and thanks to my Italian amici I was also a bit woozy from cheeba cheeba. I started talking some to the girls in front of me. We spoke English. Jan must have told them that I was Swedish because suddenly the tall one (I think her name was Camilla) asked me "where do you come from then?", in Swedish! Laughing She was from Malmö in the southern part of Sweden. I think we alternated between Swedish and English for a while. I had been speaking English for the last 4 days so it felt strange to suddenly speak Swedish again.

Suddenly they start letting people in, I didn't even look at my watch but I guess it was 19:00 already. First they let Russ and Jan in because they were in the wrong queue. I think Nicki, Andy, Janluka, Luca and possibly Alessia went in at the same time. I remember that a few others unknown to me grabbed the opportunity, made a wicked sneaky move and entered at the same time. Then Anna, Camilla and I was let inside... probably someone from behind me as well, I can't remember... once I was allowed inside I didn't look back. When I was inside I saw Russ halfway up the stairs. I headed towards him and was searched by one of the security staff. The guy then pointed towards the queue where people were picking up tickets and said "go there". I didn't understand why, but I didn't question him. After standing there like an idiot for 30 seconds I decided this is wrong and went back towards the stairs. A woman wanted to search me (don't they all want to touch my body Laughing ) but I told her that I had been searched already and she let me pass. Halfway up the stairs there was a guy checking my ticket and he ripped it (not much... cheers). I proceeded towards Russ. I didn't see Jan or anybody else. At this time I was dazed and confused. I yelled to Russ "vart fan är Jan?"... my brain had went into reptile mode and I kind of defaulted back to Swedish. He looked like a living question mark and I quickly realised what I had done. I found myself and said "where the hell is Jan?". Russ didn't know so we went towards the stage area.

Once we were there we were happy to see familiar faces turning up, one by one. Jan brought us the pricey beers. I tied my Swedish flag to the barrier. We chatted and Janluka and I leaned over the fence to have a closer look at the set list. Music was being played and I did recall some songs. But to be honest I didn't pay much attention to it. I was busy chatting around and exchanging smiley faces. I kept looking at the stairs that led down to the stage area trying to spot Gianluca, Fra and Vere... but I didn't see them. I remember that Russ and I admired the 'Multiply Your Jamiroquai banners" and the wicked psychedelic Multiquai screen saver being projected onto a wall. I want that one for Mac!

I started fiddling with my camera, set it to indoor/party mode and took a couple of test photos. They looked great on that tiny LCD screen. I also tried dusk/dawn etc but didn't see much difference so I stuck with the first setting tried. Little did I know that the photos would be pants when looking at them in full size on a computer. Sad It was wonderful to be this close to the stage... or close to the musicians rather. I've always been in the front row. But never in such a small place. It's usually a quite large area between the barriers and the stage, and the stage is usually very high compared to the floor level. We were standing right in the middle in front of Jay's mic stand and the boys would be like 2m in front of me and the stage was virtually at floor level. I was spending time looking at Rob's effects, Paul's amp and Matt's gear... the musician in me wanted to identify what stuff they were using. I remember being a bit disappointed when I noticed that there were no microphones set up for brass. I had really hoped for, no make that taken for granted, that they would have brass on this final gig for 2007. Oh well, I was so happy not to mention lucky to be there for this special gig so I didn't mind that much. I know there will be brass next time I see them. I just know it! Smile

Suddenly I see Fra (she's quite tall so I spotted here right away) and I understood that I was right when I was queueing and had the feeling that they would get inside sooner or later. I gave her the biggest smile on earth. I saw Gianluca and Vere too and I was so happy to see that all the Jamily was there as it was meant to be. Very Happy Finally I could leave those sour and bad feelings away. We were united and it was time to get funky!

The photographers were coming trough and entered the small space between us and the stage. We had to move our jackets for a while. After a while David joined them and it was so great to see him again. He took place right in front of us. It was like having the Eiffel Tower between you and the stage. Wink Laughing He did a fair bit of crouching though, as you may have seen in Russ' High Times video clip.

A nice looking lady entered the stage and introduced the band. The boys and girls came onto the stage and Jay said "good evening". The fun was about to begin! He talked some to the crowd. He assured us that contrary to the bollocks in the newspapers Jamiroquai weren't giving up. Something that we knew already. But it was nice hearing it from the man himself.

Then... Derrick counting in and cue the familiar chords and bassline from the chorus of Cosmic Girl. Sweet intro! I don't have much of a singing voice (it's bloody awful) but I started singing getting caught up in the groove.

The next track was Space Cowboy. I was in heaven. I've always thought that brass should be compulsory for a band like Jamiroquai. But by now the absence of brass did not bother me one bit.

It was high times at the Scala. Indeed it was. The newly arranged version of High Times was next. The beginning is like Hendrix meets funk. This new version is as tight as the tights of Robin Hood and his merry men. The jazzy break with some scat in the middle gave me the goose bumps. Every hair on my body were standing at attention and my mouth must have had a smile big enough to swallow the whole crowd. At the end of the song David (Rowe) gave Jay the "On your retirement card".

I think this is when the photographers left so there was nothing between us and the stage. Then it was time for a song for people like me... Capricorns. Black Capricorn Day... what can I say? This tune is always good live and tonight was no exception. The tune was followed by the band being introduced and some talk from Jay. He's quite the comedian and his jokes rendered plenty of laughs during the evening.

Little L was next. This is one of the songs I've grown very tired of. It was a massive hit and you heard it time and time again. But it's quite a different experience when you hear it live. I was diggin' it a lot and made those slightly cheesy claps. Very Happy

Radio and Feels Just Like It Should are two songs I've never liked that much. They're simply not my cup of tea. I've always thought Radio was very well recorded and sounded more alive than eg Runaway. But Runaway is a tune more in my taste although it sounds more digital and computerised. I must admit that I've always hated FJLIS. But again, hearing songs on an album can't be compared to what it is like hearing them live. The new arrangements and the bridge made this combination very successful. Had it been up to me I wouldn't mind swapping them for two other songs. But I really dug them more than I thought I would have.

Use The Force... it's a new arrangement and everything. But suddenly I turned 10 years younger. i really like the guitar driven version of today. There's some wicked percussion work by Sola in this track. I understand why it's his favourite tune to play live. Wicked!

Next is If I Like It I Do It. It's a song we all know and love. I can't say much more about it. I love it and it always makes me wanna smoke something naughty. Laughing

The intro for Travelling Without Moving gave me chills down my spine, the good way. The JAM certainly is back in Jamiroquai. It was followed by a very long and simply awesome live version of the song in question. Since the beginning of Cosmic Girl I had the pleasure to enjoy the magnificent musicianship of the boys and girls. In this particular song Paul was glowing like a supernova. Damn what a fine bass player he is. I was so sad when Stu left and was replaced by Nick Fyffe. Paul has certainly helped me recover from that ordeal. Brilliant!

Love Foolosophy was great. Like Little L it's one of those songs I have heard one time to many. But on a special night like this nothing can go wrong. I was enjoying myself immensely.

I've never been sure about what to think about Main Vein. I never liked it off the album. But there have been some brilliant live performances of this tune. I think they did a terrific version tonight. But sure... I wouldn't mind some lush live string arrangements on top. That would have been the icing on the cake in my opinion.

The intro for Time Won't Wait was mental! I got goose bumps all over again. I'm a self confessed Rhodes junkie... oh, the sweet sounds of tines. I recognised some of the chords used... it made me smile and I thought of Dazzling by Casiopea and the 12" edit of You Are The Universe by The Brand New Heavies. The "oh-ah-eh-ah-pah-pah-pah part" starting at 4:13 gave me the goose bumps again. I sung with the girls like there was no tomorrow. Why Sony didn't include this song on all versions of Dynamite boggles my mind. It such a wonderful tune... it's simply amazing.

Now it was time to be served something meaty. Deeper Underground. So phat! This song is always wicked live. It's so heavy it puts the Metallica of today to shame. Loved every second of it.

The encore was Virtual Insanity which was an unexpected surprise. If I recall correctly it was just before the song started Jan handed Rob the "congratulations to the new baby girl card" and like I mentioned before it was a success. He looked very moved and I'm so happy we took the initiative to do something like this for him. He's part of Jamiroquai, we love him and we wish him and his family all the best. The feeling when hearing Virtual Insanity live again was overwhelming. I may be 36 years old. But during this evening I certainly felt a lot younger. Very Happy

We stayed for a while but we realised the band weren't coming on stage for another tune. Suddenly someone tapped my shoulder and it was Richard (Darth Buzz). Finally I get to meet the legend. Such a wonderful man! We connected instantly and it was like I've known him for years. I gave him one of those "Multiply Your Jamiroquai promotional signs" I got at the Bedford Autodrome. I gave one to Fra earlier and I was supposed to give the second one to David. I didn't see him though and I knew I just had to give one to Richard (I'll never forget the special buffalo man pendant he sent me about a year ago, painted like the Swedish flag). He was so happy about the gift and I didn't think David would mind. I had a hunch he would be in the VIP area to take photos of whatever and I was sure that he would be able to pick up whatever promotional items he wanted back there. Jan and Russ wanted to head for a pub to have a drink. I was torn between going with them and staying for a while. I don't know what I was hoping to achieve. Perhaps a quick chat with someone in the band or something.

I may be 36 years old but suddenly I felt like twice my age. LOL My legs and back were totally worn out. My calves were tense and hurting like hell from the jumping and dancing. And the back had taken some damage from standing in the queue for hours... and the gig. I needed a wheelchair! Laughing

We went outside and gathered. I met Piero and Laura, such a lovely couple! We also ran into two young lads from Norway. Once again I got the opportunity to speak Swedish as we are able to understand each other. Very nice guys, but I'm afraid I can't remember their names. I remember than one of them was using snus (snuff) and he had a Volvo 142... the car that goes for mile after mile. Well worthy the name Volvo (latin for 'I roll'). Everybody but the Itallian crew went to the O'Neills Irish pub on Euston Road. I sent a SMS to Fra letting her know where we were hoping that they would show up later. Russ sent one to Janluka. I think Jan tried to phone David to let him know as well.

Once at the pub we talked and "wet our throats". There was a bunch of Dutch football fans (PSV Eindhoven) at the same bar and the volume level was very high with lots of chanting and cheering. After a while Janluka, Luca and Gianluca joined us. It was so nice to see them again. I asked Janluka if they got a chance to meet the band. He told me they didn't. I reckoned that the girls did as they weren't coming with them. I was a bit let down as I would have wanted to say goodbye properly. But I didn't think too much about it then as we enjoyed ourselves at the pub.

When the pub finally had to close we were gathered outside on the street. We took photos and were talking about this and that. Then came the moment when people had to break up and say goodbye. Misty eyes but still the night was full of happiness. We had shared a special moment and we knew that most of us would meet again sooner or later. I said to Janluka that it was possible that we'd meet at Stansted since they were going back there about the same time as I was.

To everyone I met during my stay in London I want to say: I miss you dearly and I look forward to the day when we meet again!!! 2hug

Russ went to get something to eat and Jan and I went back to the hotels. We decided to meet in the morning to say goodbye properly. Goodbyes are so hard. But I missed my wife and my daughers and now when the fun was over I couldn't wait to get home to see them again. Travelling is so weird. When you're going somewhere and have something to look forward to you don't mind the flying, the waiting etc. It's strange, because you really would want to get there in a heartbeat just to be able to enjoy the fun part. When I've been away somewhere and it's time to get back home it's always quite the opposite. Trains, buses, planes and waiting is a pain in the arse and I really would love to just snap my fingers to get home. Anyway... I went up to my room, packed the clothes I had been wearing and made ready the clothes I was going to wear when travelling back home. Then I went to sleep.

Thursday March 8th

I woke up early as usual. Earlier than I had to but I couldn't get back to sleep. I went to Pret and bought myself the mandatory smoked salmon sandwiches to eat on the train to Stansted. Then I went back to my room and watched the news some. I called Russ and met him and Jan downstairs outside our hotels in order to say goodbye. It was sad but I also wanted to come home to my family. The knowledge that we can "meet" anytime we want online was sort of an comfort. They followed me towards King's Cross tube station. Lots of waving as I went down the stairs. I looked up one more time just before heading into the corridor and that's the last I saw of them... for this time.

I took the tube to Liverpool Street Station and went for the Stansted Express. When I was sitting on the train waiting for departure I saw Derrick (or a perfect clone) just outside the window. It's possible he arrived with one of the trains. He was talking on the phone so I didn't want to bother him. One must respect people and he didn't look my way either so there was no point in waving and making a fool of myself in front of the Irish businessmen in the same coach. Had he not been on the phone I would have ran to the doors and shouted "thanks for a wonderful gig last night Derrick, now I'm heading back to Sweden!".

Once at Stansted I bought the latest copy of Mixmag to have something to read on the flight back. As usual a CD came with it. I listened to it in my car when driving home from the airport and it sucked... big time. The magazine didn't have much worth reading either. But since 1996 (when there was something about Jamiroquai in it) I've always bought one on the way home. I checked in my luggage and went through the security. I even had to X-ray my Gazelles. I bet the Great Britain Adidas track top I was wearing made them suspicious. "An unshaven guy who wants to look like he's British, he's probably a terrorist!" Laughing I bought some candy, some nice butter cookies with Sicilian lemons, a bottle of Morgan's rum and a bottle of Smirnoff vodka. Those two bottles where £20 together. That's not much more than what one bottle would cost here in Sweden. Quite a bargain! Smile I had one pouch of snus left when I entered the Stansted Express. I used it on the train and now I was craving for some tobacco. I'm going to drop the snus habit one day but at this time I needed something to occupy myself with. So... I usually only smoke when I'm on vacation or when I drink. But I succumbed to the temptation and bought myself a pack of B & H Gold. I had a fag. Then I walked around for a while trying to spot the Italian crew somewhere. But I didn't. I had another fag. Took another look for Jamitaly but didn't see them anywhere. So I went to the gate and took a seat.

The flight back home went smoothly. I also got my bag really quickly so I ran off to my car and paid the £28 it cost me to park there from Sunday morning to Thursday evening. I pretty much know where the coppers prefer to have speed controls so I took it easy when I had to. But at some occasions I drove like a nutter. I wanted to get home. I missed my family and I was hungry and tired. At one occasion I drove in 200 km/h which is 90 km/h above the maximum limit in Sweden. I made a little movie (lol, sounds dangerous I know, but I had full control) but I won't put it up here. I will not supply proof of committing a crime. Wink I've actually heard of people speeding in sports cars, recording it and putting it on the Internet... and when they least expect it the police is knocking their doors saying "thank you for the video, please come with us"... sort of. Laughing Anyway. I got home safely and the story came to an end. This was the Space Clav experience. I hope you have enjoyed my review. Smile

Ok, I know I promised to post photos today. But I'm still not well and I need to go to work tomorrow so you'll have to wait another day. I'll make a separate post with photos and most likely some comments to them.

Until then... G'nite! Very Happy

Edit: I just had to correct some embarrasing typos. I was very tired when I wrote this last night. Wink
