Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
I imagine some of you will have heard the bands storming comeback single 'Brianstorm' which I think is great!

I have managed to hear the new album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' (the internet eh?) and first impressions are that it is a decent follow-up. They have definitely taken a more harder approach with this album and the results sound pretty good on first listening although I think the 1st album is gonna be a hard act to follow!

What does everyone else think of the Arctic Monkeys? I think they're really good but just a bit to over-hyped for me!

Hi

Yea ive manged to get hold of it, will be buying it when its out tho! ( had to mention that !) and yea its certainly different to the 1st one. For me the 1st album was very in your face, got them noticed alot. This one seems a bit calmer, some of tracks sound really good. But for me the best tracks are the ones like Brainstorm, it seems to work for them. At the moment after a few listens, Teddy Picker and 505 seem the pick of the bunch. The Bad Thing and This house is a Circus are good ones aswell.

Overall i think the album allows the lyrics to come through a lot more, they are a band who seem to have good lyrics on every song. I really like the way they are simply based upon nights out and things the street.

Anyone who liked the first one will enjoy this album too, although its takes a few times to grow on you, where as i think WPSIATWIN (1st album) makes you like it straight away as its so catchy! - if you like that sort of thing.

Anyone got any favorite tracks on it? how about you dannyev?

ooooh, no monkeys for me.

it's not their fault though. they just happen to come out at a time where british rock/pop bands were flooding the market and i kinda outlawed them all.

GoodVibeZone, firstly, I have to agree with you about the majority of the first album songs being based on things in the street and nights out! I can definitely relate to that album!

As for this album I have to agree with you that WPSIATWIN was definitely more instantaneous in terms of likability! The new album as you say will take a lot more listens before it really shines!

My fave tracks so far are Brianstorm, Teddy Picker and This House Is A Circus Very Happy

deesh, im completely agree with what you say about the overflood upon the market. But i think theres something different to the monkeys, i hate to say it but possibly a similar way to oasis in the 90's. Although they seem to appeal to the younger generation, the 3 min tracks but i like it. There songs are short and snappy.

Going off on a tangent here but..........the only other british band ive baught into recently were the Fratellis, who i was a bit sceptical about having heard some of the singles i thought here we go again, but as with Jamiroquai, often the best songs aren't relesed as singles.

You used a group I don't care for in your analogy - OASIS! Confused

But I really should listen before I judge, so I'll do that later this week when I have some time to unwind.

Thanks, Deesh
